In Trump's book, Japan already has 2 strikes against it: a) it's a democracy b) it runs a huge trade surplus with the US I'm going to try and come up with a list of how many ways Trump will antagonize the Japanese if he accepts the invitation. Srikcir Posted April 19, 2019 Share Posted April 19, 2019 As the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula looks ever more doubtful in the near term, Japan may want to begin expanding its military with more dual defensive/offensive military capability - something that the US can and under limited has provided to Japan. Promise of a large Japanese military order from the US would placate Trump over Japan's large trade surplus with the US when it comes to detailed trade negotiations.
