Two sisters aged 13 and 14 have been rescued from their home in Bangkok’s Huai Kwang district after an advocate for underprivileged children’s rights and welfare shared a story on social media that the 13-year-old was allegedly being forced by her father to have sex with a 65-year-old man in exchange for marijuana.

Royal Thai Police’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) commander Pol Maj General Worawat Watnakhonbuncha on Sunday instructed his deputy Pol Colonel Phumin Pumphanmuang to lead officials in investigating the allegation made by Baannokkamin Foundation director Surachai Sukkeawonn.

The police visited the house in a densely packed community in Bang Kapi sub-district where the sisters were staying with their 62-year-old father and removed them, placing them under the temporary care of the Social Development and Human Security Ministry pending investigation. The girls would also undergo a physical examination at the Police General Hospital over suspicion of sexual abuse while police would interview community leaders and neighbours and check out their evidence, he added.

A source at the ATPD said that police had already identified the suspect as a 65-year-old man who lives in the same community. The 14-year-old girl testified to police and the multi-disciplinary team and social workers that her father had given her to this man who raped her in exchange for marijuana. Police are now gathering evidence to apply for an arrest warrant for the man, the source said.

And why have they not arrested the bloody father? He is as guilty, if not more so than the other dirty pervert. Both need to be made an example of, to stop this sort of sick practice carrying on elsewhere.

Agree, but imagine if it would be legal to have a few plants for your own consumption, then this wouldn't have happened.

Dear Lord, this is really sick. The poor kids to be exploited by the very person who is suppose to be protecting them! The two girls will really have a traumatised time and really need counselling etc. Both these old men need to be made an example of! The authorities should do something drastic.

You are right of course but I fear it is still a way of life still to many in the Thailand's villages.  They view their daughters as a commodity for bartering yet the sons generally are put on a plateau and hence perpetuate such immoral actions for the next generation. Many poor families honestly believe it is ok to pimp their daughters, get them down to Pattaya to work whilst the lazy good for nothing males just wait for the money to be sent to them.  Sorry to say it is endemic of the Thai male culture.

A lot of truth in what you say there.

More of this goes on then gets into the press.

That is legal now for medicinal purposes. Quite easy to apprehend the certificate.

imo women are the backbone of this country (and many others) but in the eyes of the power possessors they are still thought of as the inferior sex. Until that changes through education and the death of many dinosaurs these types of practices will continue especially among the poor/uneducated.

Who said they won’t?

ATPD involved and they are physically examining the other female relatives and removed them.

They are investigating and gathering evidence.

Just wonder how all this marijuana ends up in Thailand. I am sure foreigners have nothing to do with this since Thailand attracts only the good men with good intentions.

You are weird, I wanted to say more, but get "banned" for speaking out.
