Why is his clothes and shoes (even the flip flops) on display on the table?

Its probably what he bought with the proceeds of his crimes.

In other words, evidence.

I had a similar thing happen to me,  years ago in Spain,  North Africans pretended to be my friend. Admittedly I was a little bit drunk and maybe even my drink was spiked. Must be a north African ploy. More quality tourist arriving..

Pattaya, the international world class family resort....Don't you listen to TAT?

Yes, it is the high standard of tourists that bring these types. Pattaya needs to downplay it's image.

11 policemen to arrest one old pickpocket?? ????

After you live in Thailand for awhile you will end up looking like that. It is a hard life walking around on the hot sun and have to be friends with people that you don't know.

Algerian? ... should have entered Thailand on an inflatable boat, claimed asylum and then receive the equivalent of 2000 € per month from the government and no matter, what crimes, never extradited.

Oops - wait: that works only in Europe. ????????

Wrong decision to select Thailand for that.
