A Thai woman was arrested in Pattaya early on Monday after she allegedly stole a bag containing an iPhone 10, cash and credit cards from a Chinese tourist.

Twenty three year old Huang Wiejie told police how he had met Siriporn Chaisern, 34, earlier in the evening with the pair agreeing to go 808 Nightclub on Walking Street together.

After spending time in the nightclub, Ms Siriporn told Mr Wiejie that she wanted to go back to his hotel room with him.

However, according to Mr Wiejie he was only there for the funky beats and wanted to spend the remainder of the evening in the nightclub dancing.

He then says that when his back was turned, Ms Siriporn took his bag from the table they had been sitting at and left the nightclub.

After realising his bag was gone, he reported the matter to the Tourist Police, who quickly reviewed CCTV footage of the area and discovered that Siriporn was still on Walking Street drinking at a nearby bar.

Ms Siriporn was promptly arrested and has confessed to the crime, Siamchon reported.

Mr Wiejie praised the police for how quickly the matter was resolved and said the incident would not put him off visiting Pattaya again.

That must be record action on the part of the police.   Ms. Siriporn probably didn't even have time to finish her drink.

...and at the police station members of the media were reminded:

"This is a family resort! Don't even think about using the term 'Chinese Sex Tourist' in your headline!"

Why would a 23 year old guy go with a 34 year old woman in Pattaya?

Many look much younger than their real age.

Perhaps the only way to know is to use the tree-dating method: Cut the head off and count the rings.

Why would anyone leave their bag of valuables sitting on a table in a nightclub? It's the equivalent of me taking my wallet out and putting it on the bar or a table, and that would not happen!

Maybe he was a Chinese club-dancing-only tourist, he refused the sex bit so no need for a "sex tourist" headline.

Will the police be taking 800,000 baht from the Thai lady's family as they did with the British guy?

I was going to make exactly the same point... Will the Police threaten the Thai with 5 years in Jail and force her to pay an extortionate fine... Is she being held in Jail until she can pay her fine or go to Court - i.e. is she facing the same treatment as the Brit caught thieving the phone?

She was expecting sex and get paid; he was expecting to trip the light fantastic till the disco closed.  A misunderstanding of pay and expectations on both their parts, she deserved some compensation. Not all her fault.
