Impounded motorbike used by Huay Yai police employee

PATTAYA:--A Songkran reveler’s Thai New Year was ruined when he saw his motorbike impounded by police two years ago being ridden around Naklua by a police department employee.

Posting on Facebook under the name “Por Kradangnga Racing”, the aggrieved former bike owner posted a video of his old bike being ridden by a woman who told him she knew the police with control over impounded bikes and was able to use the motorbike even though it wasn’t hers.

The post attracted plenty of criticism of authorities.

The Huay Yai Police Station employee in charge of impounded vehicles – identified only as Chanai – said the bike was seized for being used in illegal street races two years ago.

If they are confiscated I really don't care what happens to them as long as they don't go back to the original owner! Selling them off and using the money for policing resources might be better accepted!

Reminds me of the US policemen who took an impounded Ferrari out for a spin around the block and wrote it off. The car owner got paid by his insurance, the insurance company to action to recover the loss from the police station, the police maintained they were not responsible and could not be held liable. Not really sure what happened in the end. Police around the world are the same. Just some are more corrupt than others.

Corrupt and dishonest officials are no surprise in Thailand. :jap:

What is more outrageous is the reaction from the top brass who pretend to be shocked or angered on media.

They should keep quiet instead and plainly dismiss the rotten apples on the spot !

  • 3 weeks later...

This guy must be in training for a leadership position in the RTP where it is expected they use and abuse the property of others...on a good day. Bad days? They just flat out take it as their own.
