Popular Post TigerandDog
Last week I posted that I'd report back on Retirement Extension of stay using 800k in the bank. This morning arrived at CM Immigration at 8.15. Parking was full so as per the signage in the IMM car park went and parked at the resort across the road. Thai lady came running out demanding 250 baht parking fee. Told her to get lost and proceeded to the IO. Received ticket #4. Waiting time til I was called 30 minutes. Took only 10 minutes for IO to check paperwork etc, stamp my passport & take photo Unfortunately I had to wait 1 hour 15 minutes to get passport back. I put that down to the big wigs that were in the office and the supervisors following around like sheep. Now for the vital part. Last week another farang posted of his positive experience at CM and stated nothing was said about the new rules except having to sign a document stating that you understood them. Someone asked him about the 3 months seasoning after the extension. I asked that question today. CM Immigration DO NOT require us to return in 3 months. They WILL check that the seasoning has been met when applying for the next extension. Hope this helps CM based farangs on this issue. However, people who use agents won't be checked. Simples. ????
arithai12
Thank you OP, interesting and similar to my experience in January - minus the parking bit. The absolutely great thing is that now it is ok to arrive "late" (I arrived 11am, fresh from the bank). Forget those queues in the night. Hope it stays that way.

The new rule says only two months are required, which is what I have.

If I have 5 or more transactions per month on the everyday a/c I get paid a higher interest rate. I leave the 800k there all year untouched, so the pre application seasoning does not affect me.
