A Thai man suspected of murdering a woman has told investigators that he was just playing Russian Roulette with the victim.

There were two bullets in the revolver - the first two for him and her were duds. But the third went off killing her.

Worried that this might mean trouble for him he threw her corpse in water and fled Khon Kaen, he claimed.

Police believe Thongchai Klangmuang or "Tam Saitaek", aged 30, murdered "Nong Oey" with the help of Thammaphatsorn Phuttaraksa, 26. She has denied everything and said she will fight the matter in court.

Thongchai was arrested yesterday in Trat in eastern Thailand where he had fled to his mother Buahong Kaewnet, 50.

She was comforting her son and led him to the cells yesterday saying there was "no need to talk now, we'll talk tomorrow son", reported Thai Rath.

He was taken back to Khon Kaen.

Pol Col Phakphoom Phisamai of the Khon Kaen police said that Thongchai had admitted having a jealous argument with Nong Oey as they were drinking alcohol.

He proposed a game of Russian Roulette, he claimed. Two bullets were put in a .38 revolver. The first shot was hers and was empty. The second for him also did no damage.

But the third - for her - entered her head and killed her instantly, the suspect claimed. He said he had two witnesses.

Police clearly believe this tale to be nonsense. Pol Col Phakphoom said the evidence is clear enough for a charge of premeditated murder against Thongchai.

He will also be charged with moving and concealing a corpse.

He got it all wrong. According to international rules, only one bullet in the revolver, but according to Thai rules, bullets in all chambers.

If it was my son I'd disown the SOAB
