Six election candidates representing the Prachachat party have been disqualified by the Election Commission (EC) after they were found to be members of other parties as well.

EC deputy secretary-general Sawaeng Boonmee said Wednesday that the six candidates had violated the Political Party Act for allegedly holding memberships in more than one party and, hence, would be deprived of the right to contest an election.

The six candidates are:

Mrs. Tassanee Chalayondecha, a candidate in Bangkok’s Constituency 15

Mr. Wirote Wattanaklang, a candidate of Nakhon Ratchasima’s Constituency 6

Mr. Itthisak Pathan, a candidate of Buri Ram’s Constituency 5

Mr. Krirkchai Polsa, a candidate of Bung Karn’s Constituency 2

Mr. Prayad Pimpa, a candidate of Udon Thani’s Constituency 1

Mr. Arrudet Pang-ahma, a candidate of Udon Thani’s Constituency 3

Thought the qualification vetting was done before the election. The EC did announced that they qualified and now they do not after the election. Mystifying.

pretty much like everything connected to this election. if you could call it an election.

What a surprise.....another Pheu Thai coalition party being targeted.

These disqualified candidates will have the votes they won discounted and so Prachachat will probably now win fewer party list MP's.

Everything falling into place for the Junta it seems.

Does that mean that Jacky Chanocha now has the most seats and will asked to form a Government?

I was in a department store today and noticed yet again that there was a long line queuing at a desk and asked what is going on here? Apparently Jacky was giving money to the poor people, well they did not look that poor to me, more average I would say and poor people don't shop at this department store. Amazing how Thais hear about these free handouts for one thing and then you wonder are there strings attached a bit like any new cars at the EC pool.
