giddyup
I just noticed that my Adblock and Adblocker icons have disappeared and that ads are no longer being blocked on Firefox. When I try to re-install them I get a message saying "download failed, please check your connection". Not sure why this is happening, please advise. This is a good thing, so you can't load an extension that is tampered with. But on this occasion someone at Mozilla screwed up, and done something that forces all extension to be disabled. When the update comes around, it will reset all settings to default, unless you've made a 'user.js' with your personal preferences.

moontang
I have zero regrets about ditching Firefox several years ago. It became a vulnerable fat client, and the updates were always a crap shoot of trickery.

donim
After an update with my Firefox many add-ons were not supported anymore. Had to disable a few, update some and for some have to delete and replace with another addons. In Firefox you can set some 'false' flags to keep it working, another member already wrote that. Adds and webpages are blocked on my router between internet and my local network. with some exemptions giving revenues to the webowners, no addblocks in the browser. So each device get the same policy here. Rgds,

I have a lot of manual About:config edits, and when an update to Firefox comes they have never been reset to default. And No, I don't have a User.js in my profile. (Maybe a good idea to have one, but I never bothered) And I (but I could be wrong) think that this will be dealt with Server Side (Mozilla) instead of pushing an Update to all users (but as already said, I could be wrong)

johng
Sorry I asked, thought it was something simple. Thanks. The "hostman" method is simple if you use Windows...but doesn't block at the router level so only protects the PC/device its installed on...
