Effect of UK Embassy withdrawn Notary Service.

Recommended Posts

The recent cessation of Notary services to confirm Income/Pensions, for UK Retirees, must have caused much distress for quite a few?

How many have been forced to leave Thailand due to such short notice?

The Bangkok embassy used to confirm around 250 applications a month.

This must mean a loss of income of 6.6 M. Baht/year?

Not sure 5 months since they set the  cut off date to accept the applications is recent.

Since the letters are valid for 6 months I suspect that only the people who did not know about them being stomped  have been affected this year.

This topic has been discussed many times on this forum.

As UJ say, the full ramifications of the new laws have not truly been felt as yet.  The same with some immigration offices demanding bank book balances on 90 day reports.

It will take some time to see how all of this plays out, but for sure there will be collateral damage, and quite possibly, a spike in overstays.
