Pattaya clearing Naklua traffic bottleneck

PATTAYA:--Pattaya has begun clearing a Naklua traffic bottleneck exacerbated by private encroachment on public land.

 

Phothisamphan Community President Anuwat Sripraphan was on hand May 10 as city workers tore down a galvanized iron wall and other private property extending over the sidewalk and blocking the vision of drivers looking to turn on to Naklua Soi 19.

 

Afterward, the plan is to create a footpath seven meters long and six meters wide and widen the road. A utility pole also will be moved and lines repainted.

 

The intention is to allow more cars to flow through the busy intersection which leads to Photisampan Temple and School and reduce accidents.

Why would they want to build a footpath 7 meters long and 6 meters wide?

Are they planning on opening a few food stalls or bars?

A big bottleneck at Dolphin Circus this morning, delaying all traffic from Naklua heading to town. The police set up roadblocks and blocked off the roundabout so they could stop and fine errant motorcyclists.

Yep, great planning decision to place Terminal 21 there,  and it being the only way to access the whole of Beach Road one way system, or Naklua itself  from the north end.  A moron could have predicted the traffic problems that decision would cause.

This is the biggest cause of bottlenecks in Pattaya; especially near month end when Plod has quotas to meet.

What about the bottlenecks at EVERY junction of the railway road as ignorant, selfish, brainless drivers do not think of the consequences of blocking the traffic flow.

Well, it actually is genius.

The mall is doing much better then anyone expected so they are pretty smart ¨morons¨ it seems......

and how well would it be doing , and North Pattaya be doing, if it had been built in a more appropriate location? The fact that it has a lot of visitors is precisely the problem.

The way I hear it the place is busy, full of people taking selfies and getting out of the heat, but the businesses inside are mostly not doing so well. That isn't really sustainable.

But our Economists have never seen any shoppers in CentralFestival since it opened in 2009. Such people as are inside the mall are only looking, not buying, many on their way to and from the food court. We all know Thais have no money and Chinese don't spend. So, as with T21, the businesses are all fronts for money laundering. CentralFestival has done well merely selling air conditioning, as you've discovered T21 doing as well. Yes, it's quite sustainable. ????

It is a very good location-the problem is the inadequate infrastructure serving it. How could they plan a major mall + hotel without some major access work ?? Maybe a few flyovers.

Yes the railway road junctions are a total "fuster cluck" often tail backs all the way to Sukhumvit. [emoji30]

Don't get me started on those blocking the junctions, especially when the level crossing is closed. 'If I gotta stop, everyone gotta stop' selfish attitude.
