observer90210
When the beaches will be bare of foreigners (and their big money)....the hotels empty, the sea in blackwater, the shores like waste dumps...it will be to late to accuse the awful farang of their own Thai negligence.... god save them.... It seems that cyber exposure is the only way to get any attention at all to many issues. Even at that, the attention in many cases is short lived. Lucius verus
OK, so the governor gives out the order to clean up the filthy beaches in Phuket because it popped up on social media. If it hadn't then nothing would happen and in all likelihood nothing will be done anyway except temporary bandaid treatment. These Thai officials, army and police are the most corrupt in the world.Plenty of money to fix things but it all goes into corrupt pockets and off abroad to invest in real opportunities not the crap they pass off here to budget tourists. How much do the Thai governors of all these tourist hovels make a year? Maybe as much as Big Joke made before being busted. My guess 500 million baht for each individual but probably a lot more. toenail
Its already happeningThere is a decline of Westerners visiting Phuket due to various reasons including mass tourism , litter along the beaches and decaying infrastructure. —But no fear, Chinese and Indians that have worse beaches back home will continue to flock to Thailand along with Russians since it is easier for them to get a tourist visa into Thailand. the guest
Many Europeans have already made a bee-line for other destinations already (good for them). Why you would come to a smelly and turd infested Island is beyond me.
ChasingTheSun
Its only a real problem if you can clearly see it or smell it. once the rains come stronger, its problem solved. /sarc
TheHangingJudge
Why don’t the media report on this issue every day until heads roll or the problem is solved instead of once in a while when news is slack.
