Thai media reported that a jealous husband went to the Tha Yang branch of Tesco Lotus where he was convinced that a staffer was having a relationship with his wife who also worked at the store.

But it was the husband who died and the alleged lover who fled the scene.

He later gave himself up to police saying he had received death threats and acted in self defense.

The drama unfolded near the electrical appliance section in the early afternoon when Surin Janthorn, 40, went into the store and had a violent argument with Thada Thongmoliwan, 37, reported Phetchaburi Hot News on Facebook.

Police found Surin dead in a pool of blood from stab wounds to the chest, abdomen and arm. A large screwdriver was found nearby.

The man responsible for his death had fled the scene taking a knife with him.

Wijarin Thimthong, Surin's wife, who worked at the store said that her husband was convinced she was having an affair with Thada despite her repeated denials that it was untrue.

He had called her but she was unable to pick up and he came to the store in a rage to confront Thada.

It was all a terrible misunderstanding, she said.

Later Daily News reported that Thada gave himself up to police saying that he was not Wijairin's "gik" (man on the side).

He said he had received death threats from Surin and he had just called to say he was on his way to get him. Fearful of his own safety he picked up a knife from a shop display, he told police.

Surin arrived armed with a large screwdriver and the pair fought in full view of lunchtime shoppers.

After the incident Thada said he left on a motorcycle and threw the knife away, he didn't remember where.

He has been charged with murder.

Hope they did not damage any of the goods in the store.

Feell sorry for the shoppers who witnessed this event, I doubt there will be any trauma counselling for them through Tesco Lotus

So, a man with a major problem dealing with his emotions takes a screwdriver to a fight he seems to have instigated and ends up dead. Many would say that was a case of som nam na.  I am sure CCTV will provide some of the answers as to how it went down and that if it shows it to be self defense, that the charges are adjusted appropriately.

So a phone call to local plod to report the man on his way didn't enter his head?

Or get on his motorbike & get to a place of safety until police caught up with him?
