Water heater installation, what could go wrong ?

Isn't that what I said and what the local regulations say too?

 

Sadly, many installations, even new ones seem to ignore the requirements.

Certainly all the ones we've bought in the last 8 or 9 years have got some form of earth-leakage protection built-in.

 

Unfortunately, this only provides protection downstream of the device so if something goes awry with the supply cable you are still unprotected. but it is infinitely better than nothing.

Yes, and since we have water, wet people and hi-current available, I think that there can never be too much safety in that situation (assuming that all the safety devices work)
