The issue has gone viral in social media with local officials scrambling to respond. Black water was photographed lapping the shores of Loh Dalam beach on Koh Phi Phi five days ago. One of the local business operators claimed this black water was mostly from a hotel and restaurant operator who are releasing untreated water into the sea. They didn’t disclose the names of the offending businesses. That's a very relevant phrase there, as I'd think blindness could possibly be one of the results after coming into contact with this 'raw sewage' in the sea. toenail Posted May 17, 2019 Share Posted May 17, 2019 It’s a “no-brainer” Thailand when you do not have legitimate building codes for resorts / hotels or fail to be “proactive” about caring for your (once) pristine beaches with building regulations and having sewage treatment plants ( that work). The solution is to hold the headmen and the local politicians responsible for specific areas, where the treatment facilities have not been built, are poorly maintained, or do not work. There is plenty of money to build and maintain these facilities. It is just a matter of whether or not a community or area can get past the greed of the local authorities, and get them to spend the money, rather than amass a larger fortune.
