snoop1130
World Bank team vows to support Thai business sector By Thai Visa The World Bank will support Thailand’s business sector since the government has conducted bureaucratic reforms to facilitate businesses. The World Bank’s Doing Business Research Team met with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House on Friday. He expressed his appreciation for the bank's 27th place ranking in ease of doing business. Thailand is ranked among 190 countries worldwide and is rated third in Asean. The premier confirmed that Thailand is prepared to cooperate with the World Bank to upgrade the country and region. On a long-term basis, Thailand plans to develop in several areas and the World Bank's consultations and expertise will be needed. Thailand is ready to support the World Bank in establishing a partnership for national development on a sustainable basis. The premier said that the Thai private sector has a good understanding of the implementation of government policies and, as this year’s Asean chair, Thailand is able to promote the Thai business sector in Asean markets. The research team said that the World Bank will provide consultations for Thailand’s national and regional development and that Thailand has moved in the right direction, especially regarding its digital sector. Proboscis
This is an example of where Thailand can improve things when there is motivation from the top. As I understand it, the team in charge of improving the Ease of Doing Business score reported directly to the cabinet - any government department who refused to change bureaucratic nonsense would quickly hear from a minister. And that is how Thailand is now 27th in the world (out of 190 economies) in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index.
