If the battery is in good condition 2 months is no issue.

I have left upto 6 months with just disconnecting the earth side of the battery and no problems.

Same here.

2 biggest killers of batteries are vibration and low electrolyte levels, first won't be a problem, check electrolyte levels make sure the level is above the plates, once the plates are exposed they deteriorate very quickly, disconnect earth lead.

My experience is that cold is more detrimental to batteries than hot.

It's my understanding that cold reduces the cranking amps of a battery but extends the life. Heat does the opposite: it increases the amps, but reduces battery life.  That's why people in cold climates have to jump their cars on cold mornings, and people in hot desert climates replace their batteries more often.
