Pheu Thai turns to Thaksin’s son to woo Democrats and Bhumjaithai

With time running out, and desperate to form a majority pro-democracy government, the Pheu Thai party has resorted to enlisting the help of Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra, the only son of fugitive former prime minister Thaksin, to extend invitations to the Democrat and Bhumjaithai parties to join the Pheu Thai-led coalition.

Using Oak Panthongtae Shinawatra’s Facebook page, the Pheu Thai party reminded the Democrats of their previous public announcements about not supporting General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s continuation as prime minister and promise not to work with the pro-junta party.

The party also reminded the Bhumjaithai party of its pledge to work with the coalition which commands the majority vote in parliament.

Forget the Shinawatra family, none of this family has so far been able to pay the consequences for what they did, with the money stolen from the people they have only been able to escape, cowardly behavior!

OK  The Dem party has been fighting with Thaksin for how many decades,  I think the PT is in a deep denial stage.  The guy that should be doing all the negotiating is Thanatorn and the FF PT should like the Dems realize that they are in need of a makeover.

A better suggestion is to let the PPP set up the government without the support of any of the major parties.  Let them show that they can work with others and that they can form temporary bonds for the betterment of the country.

Imagine if they the Dems BJT and FF all decided that they were going to become the loyal opposition and the PT or PPP had to negotiate each thins they wanted to do without having a majority of power.

It's all a bit of a farce no matter what happens.

Regardless of who cobbles together a Government, the fact that the Senate is appointed by NCPO, the real power still lies with the military and the 'good people'

Welcome to Thailand!

He is probably one of the few people who can really represent Thaksin. Like: You can make 10 billion in this and that ministry but you have to say yes when we whitewash my father. TiT

I tend to disagree. The only way that Thailand will ever move forward is for the non Junta parties to all get together and form the government. That the Senate is dominated by the Junta appointees is not an issue for this term, or perhaps given 90 bloody odd years later the whole corrupt lot of scumbags still dont know that democaracy is more than winning an election, then even an election or two or three of the current Army appointed Senate over view. It was always going to be that way before the election so the key for forward movement for Thailand is to accept that is the hand dealt and live with it. One can deal in the negatives of that or look at the positive of what can be achieved. There are corrupt and / or incompetent parties and individuals at all levels whether the house or Senate under the current set up. So the key here is for all corrupt past scumbags in the likes of Pheu Thai and the possible potential honest but yet to be proved newbies in the likes of FF to show they can work together for Thailand for once, work within the bounds of governance statue and laws for once, set sound policy for once and put that to the Senate. It then becomes difficult for the Senate over time whether that is two of three election cycles to be rejecting sound and honest bills. It is also time that Senators will be replaced and again if democarcy is showing to be sprouting then those Senate positions will become available to people by merit. One can keep on accepting the stupid merry go round of corrupt elected scumbag after scumbag, ousted by the point of an incompetent Army gun or look for others ways to break the cycle.

As he knows how to cheat in Uni exams, he's well qualified to peddle his old man's BS.....

Mouth piece for his dad perhaps? He can confirm what daddy will give them.

Wonder how his pending court case for his part in the Krungthai Bank Fraud case is progressing?

Why is this even news? He's just another billionaire son a billionaire who has not done a days work in life or given meaningfully to society.

Why do they want to be intertested in politics if they have billions already .................... I would guess more billions.

Parasite is a word I like the sound of. Thailand seems to be full of rich and influential parasites on all sides and the media just spout their trash.

You clowns may need a rethink.

Thanathorn has more credibility in his little finger than this guy has in the whole of his body. And, yes, Thanathorn is the scion of a billionaire family.
