Non-drowsy antihistamine?

Recommended Posts

What non-drowsy antihistamines are available without prescription in Thailand (I'm in BKK).

I like Zensil. Cheap and effective.

Not sure if any are actually non-drowsy, possibly some not as bad as others. Have tried about five, but now have realised that a quarter of one pill as required does it for me. Still with a touch of drowsiness though. Will give loratadine another try, last time I used them I was still on a full one.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll try those and see which is best for me.

I found Zyrtec worked well for me and did not make me nearly as drowsy as what had used previously.

Try Desloratadine (Aerius).

Yes this works well for me out of all of the ones tried.

Seek out the first generation ones on Google, they were the worst for this.

Diphenhydramine is used as a sleep aid and part of Tylenol PM

Diphenhydramine is not available in Thailand - but you can buy dimenhydrinate, which is a compound preparation of diphenhydramine with a mild caffeine-style stimulant. The stimulant is so mild that the effect is basically the same, a strip of 10 pills costs 10 baht most places I have been.

For non-drowsy, I use fexofenadine, by far the best I have tried.

I use CETTEC (cetirizine dihydrochloride)  I tablet usually makes me drowsy enough for sleep.

Usually around B20/10 tablets
