Looks like I can get an Airbnb for 1 month for around £300 to £350 in Pattaya or Jomtein, maybe £400 in Bangkok, it’s 1 month stay so not illegal. I’ve already booked flights so has to be 40 days, maybe I over did it ..but I just want to stay in Thailand as long as possible, as mentioned I am not going to be drinking at bars really, not eating at expensive restaurants, I just want to chill, eat cheap food and meet women, preferably non sex workers. Pattaya has the beach and cheaper rooms and stuff, Bangkok has cheap food, more stuff to do and see, lots of girls to meet from dating apps, can’t do both if I’m staying Airbnb, I feel like Bangkok will be more fun as it’s easier to meet women, Pattaya is mainly for paying for sex and partying

which I can’t do, but it’s possible to meet non sex workers in Pattaya, I’ve done it before..but it’s rare

Meet non sex workers in Pattaya  :cheesy:

Are you planning on spending your time at the Temples  :whistling:

Between the two I would choose Pattaya as you can get cheaper accommodation for the month.  You also get a bit of a breeze coming off of the water which makes it a little cooler than the concrete jungle which is Bangkok.  The only downside is that Pattaya beach has the worse water so I wouldn't venture in.  Jomtien is nice but again I would stay out of the water.

Been to Sai Kaew recently (military beach south of Pattaya near Bang Saray) and water seemed lovely and really clean there. No plastic in the water, tiny crabs walking the beach, etc… Lovely place if you can afford the travel (rent a taxi or motorcycle).

I went out with non sex workers (as far as I know) in Pattaya and Bangkok before I met my wife.

Easy if you are not a member of the of the fat, ugly, tattooed, facial haired brigade.

Agreed, if working girls are not your thing, you can do better in BKK. The only difference budgeting then is accommodation. Although some BKK venues may also charge more. Keep your food bill manageable by eating local food in mall foodcourts, still authentic, more hygienic than the streets. (And you can meet local ladies at the communal tables too).

If you're not into bars Pattaya does have other attractions, but you'll pay more to reach them as well, with taxis and grab being the only practical options.

In Pattaya, 'nice' girls have a hard time dating vacationers, for obvious reasons. All in all if you're newish to the country, and not into the p4p scene, Bangkok would be my call.

I don't agree, looking at the OPs budget, Bangkok only wins if you are particularly looking at meeting non sex workers.

Pattaya is much better where the cost of hotels/guesthouses, food, getting around (10 Bt baht buses) is concerned.

As I said, taking the OPs budget, "taxis and grab being the only practical options." in Pattaya is not true, there is the Baht buses which cover the most parts, where Bangkok has the BTS and MRT which would not be cheap going by the OPs budget.

Honestly I think some of you guys are very negative, let’s say my budget is £2300, and I spend £300 on a months stay in a hotel or apartment, remember July is low season so prices are cheaper, i have £2000 to spend on food and drinks, you say I only have 2K a day, but I can easily only spend  500 or 1K per day, why you think I always spend 2K everyday? You can get cheap meals for 40 or 50 baht. I said I am not a party guy, I honestly hate the fake chats at the bars with the bar girls, I also am not a big fan of alcohol, I’m into health, so water, a morning coffee, maybe a fruit smoothie, and maybe a beer once in a while, I will not be bar fining any girl. I haven’t done that in years.

I could have a bigger budget, £2300 is just a rough guess, it could be more, let’s hope so. As said I’ve been to Thailand 6 times so I know what I’m doing , it’s possible to survive in Thailand on a low budget, especially in low season. Why did I decide to come to Thailand with a low budget? Because I have no work for 6 weeks and sitting at home in boring England for 6 weeks with hay fever would be boring as hell, I’d rather go to the Country I love and have fun, meet people, be happy etc ..

I heard Phuket is more expensive and it’s rain season so in the south the weather is much worse, that’s why I don’t go there.

Anyway, yes I’ll admit, maybe I should only be staying for 30 days, not 40, I’ll hold my hands up, probably shouldn’t of done that, but I just love Thailand and want to stay for as along as possible, I think I’ll be fine, it’s low season, prices are cheap.

Still not sure where I’ll stay yet, to be honest, if I didn’t care about sex I would travel around Thailand and stay in dirt cheap hostels, but you guys know the power of women.. it’s addictive, looks like Pattaya is the safe option financially... If I could do both I would 2 weeks bkk then 2 weeks Pattaya..anyway guys try to be more positive, it’s low season, I’ll be fine

I am 'anti-pattaya', and was there a couple of weeks ago (generally end up there once a year for a variety of reasons). I never leave with any positive feelings towards it. It really doesn't have a lot going for it, unless cheap beer and women is the primary reason for your holiday. In this case, that might be OP's primary reason, an that's his choice.

If you want to do and sea more, Phuket does have some redeeming qualities. There is plenty to explore in the way of beaches, forested areas, and even old phuket town. If you avoid public transport, and instead rent a scooter for a month, you can see and do much for basically nothing. Pattaya on the other hand...? ????

"and instead rent a scooter for a month," Don't even think about it unless you have a Thai licence and motorbike riding experience, and most important, insurance which covers motorbike accidents.

For the record, last year I managed to get sex 2 times for free in Pattaya, with non sex workers, with a Lao girl and a older Thai lady who spoke no English, so it’s possible. It’s Thailand, it’s Pattaya, when your a skinny young clean shaven White British guy like me it’s always possible to get laid in Pattaya for sex, unfortunately mainly ladyboys are the ones interested but sometimes women are interested too. Anything is possible!

So what is your ruse with these girls to get them back to your room? Promises to be their future bf?

Most of them want to go out. A bowl of noodles probably won't cut it.

They will see immediately you are a young guy with little money staying in a cheap hotel.

Why would an attractive girl in Pattaya go with you for free when she can get paid?

I actually think you would have better luck with this in Bangkok.

But, that city will cost you more.

Good luck.

pattaya is cheaper than bangkok, for accomadation, drinks and ladies..its possible to eat very cheaply buying local foods {or in my case}, i buy vegetables from supermarket...i can easily feed myself for under 200thb per day..some hotels around soi buakhou area..do monthly rentals for approx 6,000thb.

so your budget is definitely possible, however, i find it hard to understand why anybody would travel so far, to then find that they need to holiday on a minimal budget, are you insured???

surely it would be better,in the future, to reduce your stay or wait until you have more funds..

whats the point in being a 'cheap charlie',while on holiday???

Do you know which hotels in Soi Buakhao do the 6000 baht month rentals ?

Just found an Airbnb in Jomtein 1 month for £180. Looks modern and nice too, can you get the 10 baht bus to Pattaya beach from jomtein ?

yes, the 10baht bus route goes from jomtien beach rd to pattaya...

sawasdee sunshine, in soi honey, or the sawasdee hotel in soi diana, both have discounted rates for monthly rentals..there are others along soi buakhau, similar prices...

its also possible to meet ladies for "free sex", at the discos in walking st...try thai love links..

im old...but its not that hard to find free sex.....but i dont mind paying either, if the the girl is nice...then, again....if your a 'cheap charlie', you wont even be able to buy the girls a drink or take them for dinner...maybe you need to 'get real'... nothing comes for free in thailand....

Most Thai girls don’t expect fancy restaurant meals, decent Thai girls are happy with the 40 baht noodle soup or pad kra phao, not sure what Thai girls your hanging around with ? I’m not a newbie. I’m also not flat out broke I can afford a drink every now and then. I hate walking street but might try it out out of curiosity. Yeah this trip I am a cheap Charlie but as you should know anything is possible in Pattaya. Im young slim and it’s low season, it’s gonna be good times

They must be nice places as that is actually expensive for one month on Soi B.

Mostly LB and working girls will be your neighbors. Hope you are OK with that.

I would just walk the street.

There are many places with prices advertised out front.

Also, Soi Lengkee which is just off Soi B.

And some of the smaller Soi's off Soi B.

Many places and that is all pretty central.

If you rent in Jomtien, you will be coming to central everyday I bet.

For a one month to have a good time, I would never recommend Jomtien.

Or Naklua.

Central is where you will have the most opportunities and you can walk everywhere.

I have had free before also, but would rather pay now.

I suggest you walk around central mall for a couple hours in the afternoons.

Go up and down the escalators, walk around.

There are so many girls there just browsing and making eye contact with a smile pretty unreal on some days.  Or, start up a conversation with the many girls working in the shops.

Ok I’ve made my mind up, 1 week in Bangkok in a hostel or hotel, then go to Pattaya for 1 month, find a cheap 1 month rental, should be easy to find in low season, then back to Bangkok for 4 days then go back home

Wise idea, first week in Bangkok, then a month in Pattaya, and a few days in Bangkok again before leaving.

Please heed two important posts, one from Satcommlee about the electric bill which usually comes separate from the monthly rent in Pattaya.

Also the other about walking around Soi Buakhow to find the THB 6000 monthly places, they are plentiful, and if you spend a day trying to find the most suitable one, it will pay off, you just have to find a place to store your luggage for the day while walking around.

Keeping your food budget down is no problem with a trip to a supermarket once a week or so, for a loaf of bread and plenty of sandwich fillings including veggies or whatever you like to put in them (your room should have fridge).

Happy Budget Holiday!

There are so many rooms for rent in bkk between 4000 and 5000 baht a month with aircon so that must be no problem . And then you can get your dates online your food in the streets . But as some say , if there is alcohol in play 9 out of 10 blow budget .

Where are these rooms ? If they are far away from BTS/MRT lines, in the outskirts, I’m not really interested.

Yes I’ll be careful about the electric bill, make sure I am not getting ripped off. I don’t have any luggage, just a backpack.

Ill stick to Thai street food and food courts for my budget meals, bread in Thailand sucks.

Now I’m thinking it’s probably better not to stay in Pattaya for 1 whole month if I don’t have the money to spend on prostitutes, it’s time to go back to my old ways, exploring Thailand and staying in cheap hostels. Places I haven’t been to yet - Ayutthaya, Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Koh Phangan, Phuket, Hua Hin, Krabi. Ok it being rain season I probably will avoid Phuket and Krabi but maybe I’ll take the chance. Sometimes with all these Thai vloggers on YouTube posting Thai women hooker videos it’s hard to imagine going to Thailand and not focusing your trip on trying have sex, but if you avoid those videos and the whole bar girl Thai hookers fantasy world then you realise there is more to life. Problem is I can go into states of feeling low or depression due to a pelvic problem, and that will make me make bad decisions for myself (girls, sex, porn, alcohol) let’s hope I can have a nice vacation anyway.

Good idea. I'm usually over Pattaya after 2 weeks especially because its a hard drinking culture and I dont want to see another bargirl for at least a month!

Travelling around thailand there are always a few beer bars with girls even in smaller towns so you wont go lonely
