mogandave
I have several PVC interior doors and frames that have never been painted, and that look pretty ratty. Can anyone recommend a good primer and finish they have actually used that bonds well to raw PVC?

Pvc was never intrnded to be painted....so dont! No, I do not mean they are filthy and just need a good clean, if that was what I meant, I would give them a good clean. Aside from my mind, nothing I have is filthy. What I meant is that they are old, warn, dingy and a crappy color. If the hardware was not all stainless and in good shape I would replace them all. eyecatcher
If the hardware is still usable then remove it, thats not a biggy. Vinyl /pvc windows and doors can be painted, but that does not mean they should be painted. As a general rule, home contractors will tell you painting vinyl and pvc windows and doors is a viable option, while door and window manufacturers will contradict them. The major drawback is that paint does not adhere very well. However, you tube is your friend here, there are several videos how to do and what to use. Maybe the word filthy was too strong but many frames do over time become dirt engrained and go yellow which cleaning can resolve.
