bradiston
My clever UK bank (Virgin, in fact RBS) is bringing in 2 step verification, ie texting an OTP to a mobile number. But the brilliant bankers have only about 15 countries available to select from. So I figured get a UK SIM and switch it on when receiving the text, as I do in Philippines with my Thai number for my Thai bank. It works too. But I need a UK SIM obviously. Any ideas where I might find one here? Otherwise it's get one sent out. Thanks
JamJar
Get one sent out. Though get someone to activate it and make sure it is activated for Roaming before they send it out.
tifino
Don't really need to send the phone... get that someone, back home; to do all the activating etc but try this next alternative... Have him Download one of those automatic sms-copy-to-email Apps, to the phone. Within the App, have him nominate an Email adress of 'your' choice. all you, in LOS, need is the email mailbox - to receive the auto-forwarded SmsToEmail Edited May 28, 2019 by tifino
sumrit
Order a sim from here: https://www.giffgaff.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=giffgaff&utm_content={SI:pubAdID}&utm_campaign=ps-G_PC_Brand Pure You can order direct (slower) or have it sent to a friend and have them send it to you (quicker and more reliable). You can activate the sim on line from Thailand plus, to keep it active you only need to send one text message every six months (I just send a text to my Thai number from the Giff Gaff number). Can also top up on line if necessary. I've been using mine just for receiving UK banking OTP's while living in Thailand for a few years now.
baggies666
I too use giff gaff, the sim took a couple of weeks to arrive, they also send out an email if you have not used the phone for 6 months as a warning, as above top up is easily too. If its not urgent wait and order from web site, if urgent sent me a pvt message I always keep a couple spare can send you one.

Are you suggesting that they will send them out to Thailand for free?? If they do send to Thailand, anyone who already uses GiffGaff can produce a link for you that both gets you £5 in credit; https://www.giffgaff.com/spread If they don't, you'll need to get a friend to send one to you; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/giffgaff-with-5-Free-credit-100-To-Charity/163605606585

davehowden
Does anybody know if it is possible to activate a new Nationwide debit card in a Thai bank ATM?
