Chiang Mai, 4 June 2019 (NNT) - Doi Inthanon National Park has announced the closure of the Kiew Mae Pan Nature Trail to restore the ecosystem, improve and repair the facilities as well as prevent danger that may occur to tourists during the rainy season.

Mr. Krichsayam Khongsatree, Head of Doi Inthanon National Park, disclosed that the Kiew Mae Pan Nature Trail is open to tourists every year for seven months from November to May.

There is a large number of tourists who are interested in Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail and the number has increased every year resulting in damage to the ecological system along the nature trail as well as facilities such as a walkway, board walk, hand rails and viewpoint balcony.

During the rainy season, the trail will become increasingly slippery and maybe dangerous to tourists so Doi Inthanon National Park has to close the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail to allow the ecosystem to recover naturally and improve and repair the facilities.

Kaew Mae Pan Nature Trail covers a distance of 3.2 kilometers. It is located in the forest area at the 42nd kilometer marker, Chom Thong-Doi Inthanon Road, at a height of about 2,200 meters from the average sea level. It is a trail with biodiversity and very popular among tourists because of the natural beauty and various forest conditions including the evergreen forest alternating with the beautiful grassland.

It has viewpoints especially fog sea which are popular among tourists. Tourists can see Azalea plants which are native plants and Chinese gorals which are important wildlife as they are endangered.

Some tourist attractions at Doi Inthanon National Park that are open during the rainy season include Doi Inthanon Peak, Phra Maha That Chedi Noppha Methaneedol-Nopphon Phum Siri, Inthanon Royal Agricultural Station Inthanon, Siriphum Waterfall, Siri Than Waterfall, Wachira Than Waterfall , Mae Klang Waterfall, Mae Ya Waterfall and Pha Dok Siew Nature Trail which is very suitable for a walk during the rainy season.

The starting point is at the 30th kilometer marker. For more information, please call 0 5328 6729 or visit Facebook fan page: Doi Inthanon National Park.
