Stuck in a wheel arch A pillion passenger died and a 16 year old motorcycle rider was severely injured after a pick-up went into the back of them on the Nakorn Sri Thammarat to Surat Thani road yesterday afternoon. Thanatporn Aksorn, 18, a second year computer science student in Thung Song was propelled into the wheel arch of a Honda CRV. She was trapped from the waist down and the wheel had to be removed to get her free. She was later pronounced dead. The rider of the motorcycle Kanyanee Sawangwiwat, 16, was thrown onto the roadway but survived. She is a student at the same college as the deceased woman. Naew Na reported that a pick-up with a refrigerator unit on the back had lost control and collided into the back of the motorcycle shunting it forward. The driver of the pick-up is in the custody of the Thung Song police. The accident occurred on Asia Highway 41 southbound in Thung Song district. Once again, dangerous driving causes the death of an innocent. I wonder if brake failure will be the excuse or will it be a flask stuck under the brake pedal... They can't blame the wet road and the rain this time... The 'works' trucks, particularly the refrigerated ones seem to be driven by the same lunatics who drive the vans. The penalty will be minimal, the deadly driver will be on the road before we know it, no one will learn from this, the message that dangerous driving will be punished severely will not be sent out.... life goes on, but sadly not for one innocent victim.
