lying little shit, do they make 2000, baht notes now, i have run this through and paused it and only ! note fell to the floor

That's not fair to call her that. Brand new banknotes can easily hang together, but it's not about 1,000 baht now,

it's about a foreigner who behaves nasty.

Could easily have been 2x crisp 1000 baht notes folded.... Fresh from the machine the notes sometimes stick together.

The publicity for him is going to be a shocker - everyone has seen him now (well, many have)

I'm assuming he'll charged with theft.

The publicity for her is good and her attitude towards the whole situation is to be commended.

I don’t think he’ll be wanting to do his shopping in Friendship supermarket in the near future

To be fair to the girl, what she actually wrote was;

Quote

Google Translate says;

Quote

Who ever saw the guava in this clip Please report the clue ... Make money fall, then this farang collects (according to the clip) cause 14.41 hrs at the Friendship supermarket.

So the amount could be artistic licence by the reporter.

No matter the amount, the man's actions are shameful.

please stop making excuses for the guy, he's an AH...

I don't  beleive  in that  as a  crime.

Yes if i do it then  i shall have to take responsibility  as it is the law but i wouldn't  press  charges  if i dropped  some money and someone thought  they had won a small lottery  for that  day

If they handed it to mw i would have given  him 1000 baht because from my own moral code he could  have taken  it all.

Blimey, the drama queens are out in force.

Its clear to me what he saw an opportunity to pick up a note towards his bill at someone else’s expense which I’m sure down the road he is gonna seriously regret.

Serious misjudgement which I’m sure the moral police will lose many nights sleep over.

Fortunately I’m sure the young lady won’t be out of pocket for too long.

So the counter is different from a floor?

So if I put my bag down on the floor and turn around for a second and you take it, it isn't stealing?

What about if I drop my bag on the floor, but I don't pick it up for a few seconds and you take it? Is that legitimate?

Or is it different because you threw a cloth over my bag to throw me off the scent?

Come on, Big C, you are letting yourself down with this nonsense.

If she walked away and he found 2 k on the floor. The moment he asked whoes money it was anyone  could claim it was theira so you could  put in your pocket

Takkng money from  floor is not like taking a bag

It's been mentioned in several other posts,

Finders is NOT keepers in Thailand.

(Well not for farangs anyway)

It's called stealing.

And many Thai places delight in calling the police and prosecution.

Think about this... A true story.

A friend of mine was in big C, shopped and paid, went back in to get other stuff.

Security hauled him on the way out.

They called the police.

HE could not find the receipt.

All the stuff in big C bags..

He was not of good health, frail, and he finished up in the monkey house, 2 nights.  Pending a court case.

Even that is corrupt and he said that people were smoking ice pipes, even having sex with inmates.

75 people in the nights he was there.

Many overstays doing one night for each 500 baht of overstay cost.

Big C pushed it. They always do I am told,

He offered to pay for the stuff again.

Even though he already had.

His Thai wife was not with him.

Court case, 10 times the value compensation.

Plus he was fined 10,000 baht.

A two months prison spell suspended for 2 years.

The police approached him to assist.

They have their own way to deal with these issues.

Work in teams,

Passport was not taken.

Immigration were not informed.

HE was told to cooperate...

His Thai wife was allowed to visit, even in the court.

They even gave her 1000 baht back for translation services.

50,000 baht cash.  It cost him.

After the event the police even drove him home.

But two days and nights in chains and the Pattaya monkey house and court transportation in chains, were too much,

He has left Thailand...

Sadly it's a corrupt system and a way of life for many.

If Thai find money,  lucky for them. Like win lottery.

If farangs find, it's not farangs money,  so stealing.

Trouble...

As I said I am no expert on Thai law, but in the UK it is.

The HR worker said she initially denied the theft charge because she had no recollection of picking up the cash - but changed her plea after being shown CCTV footage of her picking up the note.

The young woman was given a six-month conditional discharge - which means she will not be punished if she stays out of trouble for six months - as well as being ordered to pay £175 in legal costs.

But Ms Bailey, who has no previous convictions, revealed she was now worried she might lose her job over the case.

From Thailand's criminal penal code:

OFFENCE OF MISAPPROPRIATION

Section 352 Whoever, being in possession of  a property belonging to the other person, or of  which the other person is a co-owner, dishonestly converts such property to himself or a third person, is said to commit misappropriation, and shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding three years or fined not exceeding six thousand Baht, or both. If such property comes under the possession of the offender on account of being delivered to  him  by  the  other  person by mistake by any means whatever, or being  a  lost property found by him, the offender shall be liable to one-half of the punishment.

Just came through immigration last night and both hands fingerprint scanning in place, as well as the photo shot now.

Your story has nothing to do with this case.  Not even remotely.  You bring up a case where your friend is allegedly innocent.  But this thread is not about an innocent man.  Do you think the farang is always a victim in Thailand?  That's freakin pathetic.

I never, ever return to a store once I have received my goods. I will take my goods to my car before returning, if I have forgotten to buy an item.

Technically, this is not stealing.  He did not reach in her pcokets or her purse. The note fell off of her and dropped on the floor.  At that point, it's like picking up a lost item.

Was he dishonest, sure. Was he stealing, nope!  Good luck trying to convict him Thai system.

Not a lot to say really. Shameful and blatant theft!

A man of his age one would think would have had more about himself.

Certainly shameful. Age is irrelevant when it comes to honesty or other good behaviors. I know of more honest acts by my circle of sober friends than those I knew in bars.

A couple of days ago, I saw a phone on a clothing shelf at H&M store at Terminal 21.  I was looking for an employee but couldn't find one.  I then saw these 2 Thai guys lurking around, they had obviously seen the phone.  I stayed about 2 minutes guarding the phone until I finally saw an employee.  I pointed the phone to her so she would pick it up.

At no %$/?* moment was I going to touch this thing but I wasn't going to let anyone pocket it either.  Hopefully, the owner of the phone got it back.

He does not look to be hurting for money. his personal food bill must be 200,000 baht per month and then to steal money from a Thai person who if she is lucky makes 25,000 baht per month is the lowest of the low.

A few assumptions there...

Not when he knows exactly where it came from - theft pure and simple!!
