World Class Pattaya: State of the art light rail network to meet incoming tourists

Pattaya would be thoroughly improved if it became more like Bangkok.

Look West young man!

Rooster

But we already have a Bangkok. For people who prefer Bangkok, they can go to Bangkok. If you already like Pattaya, you don't want it to be another Bangkok. Am I wrong?

Personally I prefer Bangkok, but Pattaya is good for an occasional change of pace.

The baht busses work well, just get rid of the big tour buses parking on the side of the roads in town. Build an overnight parking area on the Dark Side. Baht buses can shuttle Chinese tourists from there.

Wait till the baht bus drivers get wind of this! Anyone remember when the city was doing a trial run with aircon buses? Baht bus drivers made it extremely hard for the buses to run normal routes..........what a surprise!

Ah, is it time to flog the monorail idea again already? I cannot even remember when I first read about it. Not a lot of progress in the meantime, if any.

The one question I ask is why now

or why full stop

the Chinese all arrive by bus

also most of the Indians

most of Europe Australia and America have stopped coming and now go to other Asian countries where they are welcomed and Te exchange rate is so much better than the inflated Thai bht

i have visited and lived in Thailand for the last 20 years this is the worst period in that time I have ever experienced I feel so sorry for the average Thai having to suffer with the lack of tourist who spend money with them

Pattaya is like a ghost town now empty bars empty shops empty streets  so sad for once a fantastic country country 🙏🙏

My friend was just there and he said all the pretty girls were taken by Chinese tourists and they all charged 2x 3x the usual prices. Seems like the girls are thriving?

That sounds unlikely. Chinese tourists are usually in large groups being herded around and stay together. More likely Japanese, Korean, maybe HK and Taiwan or Singaporean Chinese.

Get your crown out because Pattaya has world class hotels, dining and shopping malls.  And on a personal note, I lived in Pattaya for many years and the town saved my life.  I got there a discarded, disappointed, disjointed derelict.  After a couple years I was a handsome young man again with spring in my step and a reason to get up every morning.  I'd been to a variety of expensive doctors in America who did nothing - nothing to help me even with their pills and polished diplomas.

Pattaya is one of the few cities in the world, that can make an ordinary man, who is getting on in his years, feel like Pete Townsend, or Mick Jagger, while walking down the street!

Look at all this high dollar development around Bangkok.  There was talk about high speed trains for the North and the East, but it seems to have been forgotten -- only crumbs for the North and the East.  Wasn't it exactly this sort of thing that caused the political revolution that brought Thaksin to power?  "They" are doing it again.  "They" never learn.

Three X the price for 1/3 the length?   555

Is that like 9 X the money?

I was gonna say, that looks more like North America than Thailand.

Ah well, whatever gets votes!

All for it BUT either one means more traffic jams.

If it’s a tram, roads are already narrow, laying tracks will create massive gridlocks.

same applies to elevated system , not to mention flooding.

hope I see either one operational in my life time
