Yes; new owners as of about two weeks ago.

The link that Isaan Farang posted explains things.

Very sad that John was forced to sell but family comes first. So glad he found a quick buyer so that the best Italian food in Ubon is still available for anyone who wants to indulge.

With John’s departure I’d say that the “best “ Italian food in UBON now is in the hands of an Italian.

It could be argued that it is perhaps, equal best DR but I would prefer to spend my money where I was actually welcomed. 😉

Is the original Spago still open ?

I previously thought that John & Franco were in partnership and set up the new place under the YUU Hotel.

To my knowledge - John partnered with Franco when Spago moved to Yuu Hotel.

After a "short" period of partnership, Franco was bought out and went "away" for a while.

Now he is back in Ubon, and has opened a new Italian restaurant in the old location on Chaengsanit rd. The name of the new restaurant is Sapori, and I'm looking forward to trying it out! 😋
