Healthy eating isn’t just about avoiding meat but having a balanced diet.

Who ever wrote is talking a lot of crap.

The biggest problem on the planet is man himself.

It has got nothing to do with eating meat.

You are correct.

The article is very misleading.  Eating meat as part of a varied and balanced diet is very healthy... probably healthier than cutting out meat altogether.

If the human population continues to expand then cutting out meat will become necessary just to meet the food demands of the population, but it's not more healthy!

They might also want to note that the space, water, fertilizers etc needed to grow all the extra vegetation stuff will mean destroying a lot more forests and the wilderness too... just look at the horrific effect of the palm oil industry has had on the rainforests in Asia for example.

Yes, and that will keep you a healthy straight male I guess, according to your logic lol...

Thats where your wrong. Meat has zero carbs and will put you quickly into a state of ketosis where your body switches from burning carbs to burning fat. Its the fastest way to lose while eating until your no longer hungry. Fruit is banned as its just sugar , but you can get your vitamin c form a pill

Very difficult to follow a healthy diet in Thailand.

Vegetables can be delicious if one knows how to cook. Unfortunately most of the vegetables I love are not available in Thailand and the ones available are full of chemicals..

Grass fed Meat in moderation is healthy, unfortunately most meat available is fed with unnatural food for the animal, pumped full of antibiotics, and growth hormones. And kept in horrific environments.

Fish such as Salmon (Omega-3 Fatty Acids )  or Cod is good for you , but try and source wild caught salmon in Thailand.  I was at Tops market in Khon Kaen a couple of months ago and asked if the salmon was wild caught (wife did)  the answer was YES!

BS by the color and fat content I knew it was farm raised.

never take health advise from a magazine...

many healthy foods do not want to be eaten ... they contain chemicals to make most animals sick and infertile... they only have this defence system to teach you and them a lesson

look up oxalates (kidney stone formers, highest in spinach), lectins (makes your gut leaky, ibs, ibd, high in WHEAT, potato, tomato, also know as NIGHTSHADES)

most vegetarians look sickly because of iron and B12 deficiency

sadly most antibiotics in the world are used to FATTEN ANIMALS and make them survive long enough the very BAD living environments before they DROP DEAD of diseases, they got the one way ticket to the slaughterhouse ...  Cows being constantly pregnant to give you the white liquid no other mammal drinks after weaning and certainly not from another animal...

Cats drink cows milk.

Yes, the meatlovers in here need something to defend their filthy habit with so they choose to look another way, away from the facts.

Why is eating meat a filthy habit?

Genuine question.

If we are talking facts then homo sapiens began sapien after eating animals.  It provided the much needed protein for the brain to increase massively in size.

But some people missed out it would seem.

Yes! It is a well known fact that the human needs meat and what it gets from it.

Most vege people I have over the years have been very sickly people and have to resort to vitamins to keep them selves going.

Humans evolved as meat eaters. That's a fact. Get over it. Agriculture is only 10,000 years old. You wouldn't be a homo sapien without meat.

I am almost meat free myself, but I do eat boiled chicken from time to time. What is very important if you go vegetarian is to eat plenty of beans and lentils, because of the high amount of protein. Especially kidney beans contains a lot of it.
Avoid beans and lentils like the plague. They will slowly kill you. They contain lectins which can cause leaky gut syndrome. Eat meat. It's the most healthy and nutrient dense food you can eat. Avoid carbs and sugar.

They were evolved omnivores, Some meat, with vegetables, grains, fruits, leguns, fish. A varied diet to provide all the necessary nutrients.

In moderation and the meat they ate  lived in it's natural habitat, feed on natural to the spices food, and was not loaded with antibiotics and growth hormones.

A human can live on meat without much in the way of vege.

And live a good healthy life.

A vegetarian cannot live solely on vege.

I am not talking about water, milk or fruit etc.

We all need those things.

Only if you ate them raw .most Lectins are destroyed in the cooking.

I agree about the carbs and sugar , but there is a big difference between simple and complex carbs.

Even a high temperature pressure cooker won't completely destroy lectins.

That's why I said "mostly" ,

the nutritional benefits outweigh the small amount of remailing Lectins, according to most nutritional experts.

Don't need milk and fruit. We are not designed to drink cows milk and fruit is just a whole lot of sugar. calcium and vit C are available in good quality vitamin pills.

That's good to know. Where did our ancestors buy their vitamin pills, from the Fred Flintstone pharmacy?

I never ate red meat for over ten years, felt a lot better when I started eating it again! grass fed off course. A lot depends on your genetic/blood type how much of different food groups you need, I'm type O need lots of red meat!

They suffered terribly with lactose intolerance but they were also hunters and gatherers so they were burning massive amounts of calories and the sugar burst from fruit helped a lot.

Now lets talk about fat arsed farang eating 3 bananas and on the PC all day and then a glass of milk and then nice little nap eh??

What is this crap? There's literally NO connection between unprocessed meat and health issues - the only health issues studies find are from processed meat. Dairy however is linked to cancer, and nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant) mess up your gut. Some legumes are bad for you too.

Wish beef was cheaper and more readily available in Thailand... I miss a good steak.

New Zealand beef is better.
It might be that I am a little biased seeing I am from NZ.

I think you meant lamb where NZ is world class. I would dump steak and survive on little butterfly lamb chops but they are expensive

There's nothing wrong with a moderate amount of fruit and the sugar from it doesn't give you the same kind of insulin spike as eating a Mars bar because of the way fructose is absorbed. The main issue is that we don't eat fruit seasonally anymore. You can eat fruits at anytime of the year because it's shipped all over the world. Our ancestors didn't do that. They only ate the fruit that was available locally and at a particular time of the year so there was more balance. Their digestive systems adapted over a long period of time. The amazing thing about the human digestive system is that it can adapt to a lot of different environments so you can eat a diet more rich in vegetables and fruits near the equator but you can equally survive quite happily on meat, fish and seal fat in the arctic region. Most animals survive on a very specialised and restricted diet without much variation. The human gut is very flexible and that's why we are what we are today.
