rooster59
Immigration crackdown sees thousands arrested in northeast Thailand Image: Siamrath More than two thousand foreigners and Thais have been arrested as part of a two week crackdown by Immigration Police in Isaan. Pol Maj Gen Natthawat Karndee, who heads Immigration Division 4 in northeast Thailand told reporters on Saturday that his officers had arrested a total of 2,274 people during the crackdown which took place between 1 June - 14 June. Of those arrested 621 were found to have entered Thailand illegally, while 31 were on overstay. 73 were arrested for working illegally, 16 had outstanding warrants and 1,245 for other illegal activity while, 287 had been refused entry. The arrests included 15 Cameroonians who were charged with chopping down protected trees in Korat, an Indian man who stayed in Thailand on a fake passport and four Vietnamese women who were working in a Thai massage shop. Pol Maj Gen Natthawat also said that his men are monitoring criminal gangs from Cameroon and Colombia who are committing crime in Thailand. He said some of the Cameroonian gang members are often armed, while the Colombian gangs are known to commit crimes such as burglary and bag snatches. Separately, a Colombian man who stole 5 million baht of goods in Samut Prakan in May was arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport earlier this week. Also this week, head of the Thai Immigration Bureau - Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang urged anyone who knows of a foreigner involved in illegally activity in Thailand to report the matter by telephone to the Immigration hotline on 1178. Solinvictus
He is new. He needs to put his foot down from the start. Quite a number that is, 2,274. Would he ever address some of the reasons why/how they are here to his superiors? That may lead to the root of their ability to stay here..Nope he wont, at least that's my guess. But 2,274 sure does look good doesn't it. #Twisted

Isaanbiker
The arrests included 15 Cameroonians who were charged with chopping down protected trees in Korat, an Indian man who stayed in Thailand on a fake passport and four Vietnamese women who were working in a Thai massage shop. If you find 15 Cameroonians in such a big province, there must be hundreds more. Okay, I get it. They couldn't find a teaching position. The Indian man doesn't seem to be the only Indian on a fake passport. It seems to be easy to buy a passport in Bombay, or other areas of India. The four ( obviously piss- poor) Vietnamese women took jobs away that are reserved for Thais only. These poor women sent some money back to their families, and that will now stop. Great achievement!!! Wow! Great news, when it's once not about one of us! Also called: " Farang", sometimes even " Baksida", "Kee Nok" Farang, or "Kee Nieau" Not even Thai teachers at schools use the real word for foreigners: Khun ( Mr.) Kru ( teacher) Dangchat ( foreigner) ( Ajarn) ( higher teacher), or just your name, especially when they know you for a couple of years. spidermike007
Foreigners can be such bad people. They are responsible for so many crimes. The nation has such virtue, the people here possess such a level of purity, honesty, compassion, charity, benevolence, righteousness, and high minded thinking, that they should not, and cannot be exposed to these toxic foreigners.
