Tsunami evacuation drill to be held at Patong Beach

PHUKET:-- A mass tsunami-evacuation drill will be held in Patong next Tuesday (June 25), with the tsunami-warning sirens sounding the alarm at 1:30pm.

NIEUWEGEIN, Netherlands (Reuters) - Three Russians and a Ukrainian will face murder charges for the July 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine in which 298 people were killed, in a trial to start in the Netherlands next March, an investigation team said on Wednesday.

Bats possibly used in Nakhon Sawan child murder found

Four aluminium baseball bats that had allegedly been used in a fatal assault on a 15-year-old boy at a boarding school in Nakhon Sawan’s Muang district earlier this month had been sent to the Muang Nakhon Sawan police, a source said.

NBTC hails telecoms sales

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will gain over Bt56.4 billion (including VAT) from selling three slots of the 700MHz spectrum to three telecoms operators on Wednesday, of which Bt36 billion will be used by the NBTC’s existing plan of easing the financial burden of the digital TV broadcasting licence holders.
