The head of the Krabi Tourism Authority said that filming of "The Fast and the Furious 9" will be great news for his province.

Apichai Aranyik said such a high profile movie with such well known actors will showcase Krabi all over the world.

He said that the producers of the film chose Krabi for its great natural scenery and limestone cliffs.

He asked Thais to be good hosts and co-operate with the filming. He warned people not to take their own films and break copyright laws.

Thai Rath reported that equipment such as cars and big bikes was pouring into the province and that two old factories - one a mill and one a rubber processing plant - were being used as storage facilities and places where some scenes will be filmed.

The scenic Ban Nai Sa - Khao Thong Road will be used for filming. Thai Rath said that road users will not be overly inconvenienced as they will use a diversion during filming.

Filming throughout most of next month will also take place in Phuket, Phangnga and Surat Thani.

You should be more afraid that every Thai is now trying to imitate the way actors drive, remember, if a farang does it, I can do it!

Remember when they filmed "The Beach" some 20+ years ago?  What happened to Koh Phi Phi?  Yep, I think the same thing will happen to the Krabi area as well if the movie is successful.  It will have a mass tourism influx for a few years over whelming the infrastructure of Krabi.

Yep there will be a bus tour of the fast and furious roads where they were filmed, boat tours to fast and furious island,a fast and furious temple tour and a few restaurants selling the fast and furious curry.

I doubt this ever will be the case, in times of The Beach there was no Internet etc. yet as much with videos and all that.
It would be nothing new under the sun today.

Besides, it was all about the mysterious island without mass tourism and the beautiful secret beach. Not random tropical trees and a blue ocean.
