varun Posted June 21, 2019 Share Posted June 21, 2019 This is one of the primary reasons SE-Asia, especially Thailand will remain an e-commerce backwater for years to come. The combination of a cash-based economy, general dishonesty (of online sellers & buyers), lack of strong consumer protection laws, Thai logic & poorly implemented/insecure online payment systems are the main reasons. China didn't become an e-commerce powerhouse by offering COD on it's online marketplaces - cashless is the way to go. However, there are significant roadblocks in the way of transitioning Thailand to a cashless society, most notably, monkey-brained Somchai.
