Letter from bank now required at Samui immigration for 90-day reporting

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine went to Samui Immigration this morning to do his 90-day report and they told him that he needed to have a letter from the bank now to prove his financial bona fides. Is this the new normal? I went a few weeks ago and they didn't ask for it.

Not usual for 90 day address reporting. Does he happen to have a retirement extension based on money in the bank? There  may be requirement to prove he maintained 800k for 3 months and a bank letter would help verify that.

He does, but so do I. I thought maybe because this was his first time doing the 90-day report that it was different, but he said that they didn't even look at his passport, just said that he needed the bank letters. Once he got that and returned, there was no problem.
