You may recall a story of an English guy stepping on a note dropped by a Thai in a supermarket, which he then picked up and pocketed. Sadly for him he was caught on CCTV and made to look a right plonker. The comments and punishment for this stupidity delivered by the TV judge and jury were pretty similar, maybe worse. I saw his crime as lesser, drunk driving and abusing officialdom is no way to behave when a guest. Remember anyone found guilty of a crime in Thailand can be deported and barred for life.
