An Israeli who murdered his wife in Bangkok in 2013 was caught back in the country again after he was deported.

In 2004 Eli Maimon Cohen was convicted of murdering his wife, cutting her up and putting her remains in a suitcase. He then dumped her in the Phadung Krung Kasem canal in the capital..

He was given a life sentence but after remission was let out in May 2013 and deported and permanently blacklisted.

However, he found his way back into Thailand on a new passport under the name of Yahel Eli Maimon Cohen. He is now aged 49.

Acting immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang told a press conference that Cohen was arrested last week at the Rong Kleua market in Sa Kaew.

He had come back to Thailand on a tourist visa and was trying to get work with a foreign company, reported INN.

He will now be deported once again after he was found to be in Thailand illegally.

So much for 'life sentence' isn't nice when you murder someone do few years jail and get free again because Thailand don't want to keep foreigner in it's jail systems? Pity this Marine guy who is locked up on some obscure chargers is NOT that lucky...

He spent 9 years in jail, he must have thought that 2019's Thailand was the same as 2004 and that they had no way to make the connection.

Well... I also wonder what system is working so well in this country.

Murdered wife in 2013 and convicted in 2004? Methinks a typo has occurred.

It can't be a bad life if you can murder and dismember someone, get caught, serve your sentence and be globetrotting again at age 49. I suppose you can understand his thinking though, he probably speaks fluent Thai, can eat rice swimming in anything and he still has time left after his life sentence to squeeze in another murder and dismemberment if his next wife upsets him, do the time and be back out for a retirement visa.

Doesn't say how he was caught. Murderers remain 'on licence' for the remainder of their lives in UK. Hopefully it was similar monitoring by Thai police that resulted in his arrest?

Exactly, and can be recalled at any time without reason.

Thais should send him back to prison to serve the rest of his sentence, by the time he gets out again he certainly would not even wish to come back.

instead of deporting him again, they should prosecute him for the illegal entry.. people who come to Thailand with fake passports or visas get 1-2 years in prison when caught.. This case should be considered the same thing

Probably changed his name and genuine passport, Sorry but my views are every country should give every citizen a unique ID reference number that is printed in their passports, the same number in every passport even if change name and even change of sex.

Australia we have a unique Tax File Number, but that is only related to tax files. We also have a unique medicare number,
