Electricity bill up 35% this year

Recommended Posts

Anyone have the same experience? My GF says all the Thais complaining about electricity on FB. Last few years hottest 3 months of the year

my bill would max out at 2000 - 2500 baht. This year last 4 months 3500 baht. I am pretty liberal with the air cons, wash everyday etc but really always have been last few years and I know this has been a particularly hot summer. Only thing different is I have a medium sized chest freezer which is outside but shaded and under cover. Would this increase my bill so much or have electricity prices increased dramatically?

It has been rather hot, and still is.

Welcome to global warming. On average you can expect bills to be higher every year until something is done about it.

Yes the freezer will use quite a bit more.

Yes electricity prices have gone up in January this year.

But the increase on a specific 533 units is from the old bill at 2,230 to the new bill 2,255 or just under 1% on the total charge.

So it is your usage not the 'lecky price

FWIW. The hot weather has dropped our bill a couple of hundred this month as we have turned off the water heaters because our indoor tank is giving 33~36 degree water. That seems to have more than balanced the extra AC

Did not the prices increase after the election results were finalised or am I mistaken?.....

I think ot must have been a more significant increase than that. My GF said all her thai friends on FB were complaining and their elec bills would be nothing compared to ours

My bills have been higher too - but not from price increase.  I'm still paying about 4.2 baht per KWH.  I'm running my AC much more this year mostly for the damn humidity.

It wasn't. The  prices went up by 4.3 satang per electrical unit or 1.2% so my under 1% on a 533 unit bill is accurate.

Slightly off topic - But why can't PEA give us a 13 month usage history so we could compare from one year (season) to the last?

They do in the app, it's about 15 months.
