Just days after Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan said that Big Joke's days in the police force were over comes news that suggests the contrary.

Daily News said it was "hilarious" that Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn - the former poster boy of the Royal Thai Police who was sacked from Immigration in April and given a clerical job - has been named on a sub-committee that oversees police rules and regulations.

They said that General "Big Pom" Prawit had signed the order that Surachate - universally known as Big Joke - would be on the police committee under the chairmanship of deputy national police chief Pol Gen Wirachai Songmetta.

The important committee decides on police rules and behavior.

Earlier in the week, Prawit - and even the RTP chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda - said Big Joke's career was over.

Daily News indicated that the announcement was very low key using abbreviated words perhaps suggesting that the appointment might slip past unnoticed.

Speculation about the reasons Surachate was sacked from immigration and given a clerical role in the Prime Minister's office has been the talk of Thailand over the last two months.

Surachate's career in the police seemed destined only for the top and no reason was officially given for the move to the PM's office.

The latest news that Surachate will actually play a part in deciding police rules will only stoke the fire of speculation, notes Thaivisa.

Daily News were beside themselves with the humor of the situation though there was no official quotes from those involved in their story that was based on a document they had seen.

This is how it's been working for a few years now: Junta denies something, a week later it's announced as happening.

you can't make this shit up. :cheesy:

Prawit seems to be an expert - just "watch" how he doesn't perform - he is responsible for road safety - speaks for itself

In other corrupt countries it's usually a single all powerful dictator that fills their coffers with billions - in Thailand there's a gang of them

The only way to remove them unfortunately is a civil uprising seize their assets  and prosecute the lot - but in Thailand there is no guarantee that who seizes power are going to be any different - highly likely not

It would appear that in spite of his girth and "medical issues" (that are preventing him participating in the up coming cabinet), Prawit is demonstrating his masterly gymnastic abilities with a brilliantly performed back-flip with pike. He topped the gymnastic performance of with a perfect landing with no sign of a stumble or step off his mark.

These people have more faces than Big Ben.

Big Ben does not have a face but the clock has four faces, one looking in each direction.  Big Ben is a bell and makes a lot of noise as does the watch keeper.  Maybe he would like to add Big Ben to his collection except it may be too big and too heavy to have on his wrist and there is no deceased friend who is capable of "donating" it.

The whole NCPO cabinet is fill to the brim with lying and cheating mother of all corrupt ministers. And the leader of the pack is perhaps the biggest mother of all.

But it's just what the Big Controller wants Thomas, and with a big puff of steam Thomas the Tank engine puffed off
