IME there is no prostitution takes place in Walking Street. For the prostitution to take place in bars and gogos they would need onsite short time rooms. Most if not all of these have disappeared from Walking Street. The actual prostitution takes place in the privacy of a hotel room, which isn't illegal in Thailand or a number of Western countries.

What if the money changes hands in the bar?

You are planning to prosecute the short time hotel?

It's a question of where the sex takes place, butr your point is probably why it's traditional to pay the girl in the room, not the bar.

A short time hotel is a hotel. Once you have rented the room, what you do in there is your business, hotel is not liable, same as any other hotel.

Are we really to believe that the so-called Ronnasit Foundation complained to the RTP about one girl, when there are over one thousand working in Soi 6 on any given day.   Come on..conspiracies keep this TV thread going.

I didn't say they were tipped of on this one girl, I only said they tipped off the police.

the fact one of the girls was a minor just made it so much worse.

Even if there are thousands working in Pattaya, it doesn't matter, you can't be so arrogant in assuming there was nothing more going on in that bar that would have triggered
the raid.  EVERYBODY knows what is going on in Pattaya, even the police. Are you so naive into believing that FAT OLD UGLY men with you girls are there for anything else. But as long as nothing happens in the bars, they can not do anything.

If they had a tip-off that this bar had underage girls, then they should rightly focus on that. Other bars are regularly checked but presumably ensure they only employ girls aged 18+.

Just because women and blokes are hanging in bars, bare arssed, mammaries hang out, does not mean they are being paid for sex, at the bar, the place probably allowed it to happen on the premises.

Do Thai service staff give police finger prints.  If you don't know you can say that.  Maybe their prints are in some kind of file on the id card.

I just asked mine.

She said no fingerprints are recorded on her id card.

Only the biometric information on her passport.

But interesting thing is.

Passport biometric information has to be redone every time you have a new Visa.

And Australia and the UK both collect separately.

I would have thought that once in the passport it's there?

But no prints on the id card chip.

Dude my post was very 'tongue in cheek'..you have interpreted wrongly...reread it.

Also the word you were looking for is ignorant...not arrogant.

Actually I know first hand what was going on in that bar (and bunches of others nearby) as I was imbibing there a few days ago.

FYI I have been frequenting Soi 6 for 37 years, so one would assume I know whats up (so to speak).

Lastly I am quite a trim bodied person, not an FOU....enuff said.

Plus this will have all blown over by the end of next week. Have a nice day.

I am guessing you do not know what you talking about at all. All provide on site service , but rooms are “rented “ to girls on monthly basis and other guests , girl takes you to her room.

yeah clearly bar upset someone and clearly it was not from the local authorities and clearly that someone who was upset knew what to do, just as that someone and co has gone into hiding .
A good way of getting around the law. They just need to make sure all the girls are of legal age and all should be fine.

Do not worry , you and me are on the same page and appears know how "the one" operates and has been operating for years.

As i mentioned earlier, highly unlikely "the one" expected or foresee top brass being affected.

I have no doubt they will find out or already know where it came from and we should watch this space for something to happen in the near future.

Though i am not too sure if "the one " is in Thailand or hiding out back in UK.

Quite a few of people close to him have been quite on all social media, so there is definitely something happening.

My only concern i suppose best word to use is that he will put all his "friends" in the line of fire to save his own butt as he has done for years

If one was looking for one flower seller they might try PV on the darkside, and if they wanted Greek food they might try the mooban next door.

Seriously, never run a bar but, so 17 years old is underage?

How old are proper bar girls then

There is not one simple answer on that.

1. To legally have sex in Thailand, you have to be sixteen years old, but that is for sex with another thai.

2. If a thai should have legally sex with a foreginer. (S)he has to be eighteen

3. To legally work in a bar or even visit one without the parents, a thai has to be 20.

I stopped buying flowers some years ago and made myself very clear why;)

Where was he transferred to? Its party on in his new town!

That'll learn them to be so naffing stupid as to stand in walking street and deny prostitution exists.

Even government stooges have a limit on how much "truth and reconciliation" you can get away with in front of the cameras.

Shame about the mad lads who ran the bars, they're unlikely to get into the Philippines or anywhere else with a black mark from Thailand in their passport. ????

So. It's home to the cold, and driving a minicab or dealing in whatever illicit shit they can.

Cock of the roost one day, feather duster the next.

And Pattayas image as as an anything goes sex paradise, severely damaged. ????????????????

Pretty Pathetic considering the reputation of soi 6.

Probably the fact that foreigners were involved motivated the bust.  Assume the other similar establishments will be keeping the brown envelopes better padded in future.

'The foreign owners all blacklisted and deported...' - So, how about the Thai owners? Getting away with an apologetic wai?

A very liberal thought, but why not legalize prostitution in certain soil like they do in certain European cities. The government would get some income , more safe for the “escorts”, & gets rid of the scumbags.

Because this is Thailand and prostitution would be 'bad for face'...

1- I know; I gave this definition just above . (post #278)

2- Are you implying that Customers are involved in these Sex shows?  Would be very different.

???? - regardless of the nuances.  Im not against prostitution BTW - but to deny it occurs in walking street and is not a predominant business in the area seems at odds with reality to me ????

Probably because you don't understand the definition of prostitution as an illegal act in Thailand. I personally have never seen evidence of it on Walking Street but I know that it occurs many times every day on Soi 6.

Thanks Pete - I do - having been here about 25 years and being able to read, see and hear.  However as any local will tell you the term 'illegal' and 'enforced' dont really align well - particularly when police are often shareholders in businesses promoting the practice.  Walking street has freelancers active in many of the clubs and bars, and it has gogo bars with bar fines.  Soi 6 - yes no attempt to hide it there - a one legged 90 year old with a colostomy bag could find love there with sufficient baht in the pocket.  However dont take my word for it - read the reviews.... and keyword search "Bar Fine"..  https://www.thailandredcat.com/top-6-best-go-go-bars-in-pattaya/

I think you are missing my point. If the deed doesn't take place on the premises then no prostitution takes place in the bar/gogo. No on site rooms in Walking Street but most bars on Soi 6 have them.

Why is it, I'd like to know, that in the wake of these supposed 5 year closure orders, we NEVER hear any followup of what actually happens with these places???

I think I can almost guarantee, that the space held by this bar is NOT going to sit vacant for the next 5 years. Probably will reopen as another bar in the not too distant future, probably with a new name and with new tenants/lessees. And the Thai owner of the (land) property will probably continue making money off prostitution, et al...

The Viper Bar was closed and became another business,  a shop or something.

Not as well advertised as 6, but I know a couple of places on WS with a room on site.
