But the wife beater was turned down. He then drew a gun and a knife and threatened her. She was shot and later died on the way to hospital. He turned the gun on himself and died at the scene. Phopphra police led by Pol Capt Watthanan Jongpor went to a shop by the temple of Wat Huay Nam Nak where they found Anurak, 33, dressed in a Karen hill tribe costume. He had been shot in the left side of the chest and was lying in a pool of blood. A gun and spent cartridge was next to the body along with a 12 inch knife sheath. Nujaree, 32, had been still breathing after Anurak shot her. She was dead on arrival at hospital. Nujaree's father Somchai, 62, said that he had been sleeping when he heard his daughter cry out that there was someone with a gun. She had just opened up the family shop. He heard two shots ring out. He said that the couple had split up just a month ago. Three children - one aged 8 and 5 year old twins - were now orphaned. The police said that the shooter was a habitual drunkard and drug taker who beat up his wife in front of her father. He had heard that his ex wife was getting a car and he turned up in a pick-up to ask to reconcile with her. When the wife refused he produced a gun and a knife then the shooting began. Two shots were fired.
