maitembot
Must be the effects of the ones in Hati and Iran recently if thats possible. I'm sure it was from the effects of the giant bean burrito I had at Salsa Cafe last night. Sorry 'bout that!
meadish_sweetball
This is not the first time the North has minor earthquakes. There are are also hot springs around the mountains. Does anyone have more background information about this? My layman's thoughts are that since the mountains in Northern Thailand are the foothills of the Himalayas, Chiang Mai is also a-rockin' when the Indian and mainland Asian teutonic plates have a tête-à-tête. Just a guess though - does anyone have more facts about the geology of the region?

It is easily seen in Thailand, as you travel north, from plateau to plateau, each one successively higher...Lampang/ CM/ CR are the local examples. This continues North, all the way to the Himilaya region...
astral
That is why there is a seismolgocal centre at the foot of Doi Suthep, on the right as you start to climb up the hill.
Ricardo
Presumably there must have been a recent visit , by one of the local 'movers and shakers' , to CM ?
