webfact
Foreign man dies after falling from Pattaya condo Picture: Manager An unidentified foreign man has died after falling from the 11th floor of a condominium in Pattaya. Rescue workers were called to View Talay 6 Condo just after 6pm on Wednesday after staff reported that a man had died. Staff said the man, who is believed to be aged between 30 and 40, arrived at the condo inquiring about renting a room. While looking at a room on the 11th floor he fell to his death. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are checking CCTV to establish if the man died due to an accident or suicide. The man’s body was taken to Banglamung Hospital. There have been at least two other similar deaths in Pattaya over the last two months. In May, a British man leapt to his death at the Central Festival Pattaya shopping mall. Last month, also at the Central Festival Pattaya shopping mall, a 57 year old Italian man jumped to his death. Also in June, a twenty three year old Thai woman died after falling from the 30th floor of a condominium in Naklua. Sounds like an accident, as he could easily have gone anywhere high up and jumped if he was indeed suicidal, rather than looking to rent somewhere. Will be interesting to know the persons height, and the height of the balcony. Tragic either way. RIP to him whoever he is.

bushdoctor
That’s sad. I’ve been to most of the View Talay condos but not View Talay 6. The ones I’ve been to had “normal” height handrails by US standards.

Skallywag
Rented at VT6 3,4,5 years ago. Never allowed to enter rooms for rent alone. They take you up and show you the room. Funny how VT6 blatantly has 2-3 "real estate" offices on the bottom floor advertising daily rentals. Also online they have a couple non Airbnb websites renting daily - weekly at VT6 for many years. Matzzon
Probably just another one that couldn´t see the height of the railing. Can´t just use the excuse that they are to low all the time. People must start to open their eyes. It´s easy, it´s just to look. However, RIP to the man and condolences to his family and friends.

Regardless if it was suicide or a tragic accident, not a pretty thing to witness.

I know it seems like that but its because we tend to hear about them in Thailand. Back home they are not reported. The suicide rate for somewhere like Australia is 10 people for every 100,000 people per year. Population of pattaya is 300-400k, thats a death every couple of weeks if the same rate as Australia
mike787
And here we are yet AGAIN, another fall by a foreigner or (sometimes a Thai girl) off a balcony. Recently it was Central mall in Pattaya, before that Pattaya, and Pattaya again, and so on...it's ridiculous.

Dietrichthailand
As a property inspector for buyers for 14 years in Thailand I have never seen an outside railing under 3 feet or about one meter tall. Now I have seen the wrong type of glass used for such railings many times.
