Filming of the next installment of the Fast and Furious movie is underway in Krabi.

Thai news site 77kaoded reported numerous scenes are being shot on a palm plantation  Khao Thong, Mueang District.

The site said that a production crew of 300 foreigners are in Krabi currently filming the movie.

77kaoded published a video which showed an armoured vehicle that it said will feature in the movie.

The site also said a stuntman for Vin Diesel, one of the lead characters, shot a scene with him driving the armoured vehicle and crashing into motorbikes.

The real Vin Diesel has also been sharing videos on his Instagram page during filming of the movie.

Diesel along with his co-star Michelle Rodriguez said in one video they were feeling 'blessed beyond words'.

However, there is some confusion regarding whether or not any of the stars which appear in the movie are even in Thailand at the moment.

On Wednesday, Thai news site Khaosod reported that despite the videos on his Instagram, Vin Diesel isn’t in Thailand yet and the scenes with him in are currently being filmed in other countries.

It was also revealed that a photo which went viral on Facebook earlier this week claiming to show other lead actor Jason Statham visiting a dog rescue charity in Phuket is several years old.

Statham also isn’t yet in Thailand at the moment.

It was claimed the actor had visited the rescue centre during filming for FF9. However, posts on social media claimed the photo was taken the British actor was filming The Mechanic: Resurrection in Phuket in 2015.

While the area where the movie is being filmed in Thailand has been closed to the general public, villagers from close to where the filming is taking place have been given special access to some of the site and have even gone on organised tours around the set.

Officers from Krabi Tourist Police are also on hand to provide assistant to the crew and make sure only authorised personnel can access the site.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that British actor Finn Cole, Anna Sawai and Vinnie Bennett have been added to the cast of FF9.

Cole is best known for playing Michael Gray in Peaky Blinders and Joshua Cody in Animal Kingdom.

Fast and Furious 9 is expected to hit theatres on May 22, 2020.

They could have used a local Somchai for these scenes, and saved some money....
