Popular Post ALFREDO
A man I know - ran completely out of money - now he will leave with a 4 or 5 day overstay - flight is after midnight - and he has no money to pay that overstay - what can or will happen to him then, when he comes to Passport control without sufficient money for fine in pocket - can say - no money at all. Thank you 1 1
Popular Post Orton Rd
Totally foolish and irresponsible, I expect they will detain him until he pays. How can he travel without a cc? he will have to borrow the money or sell something, it's only 2.5k baht. 15
Popular Post lamyai3
If he doesn't come up with the money it'll be jail until he can, plus finally an expensive new flight out to his home country. For him to beg borrow or steal 2-2500 baht will be extremely small potatoes in comparison. 12
Popular Post worgeordie
How is he going to even get to the airport without any money ? regards Worgeordie 14 1
Popular Post HampiK
What is strange in my eyes, that he can run out of money (or he lost all his money, which would not be the same)! Then his flight he can change dates? or he actually intend to overstay. Of course he Intend, how else the flight can not be invalid now? Now he should find very fast some money for pay the fine and the transport to Airport. 5

Popular Post darksidedog
He would be extremely ill advised to even try to catch that flight without the overstay fine money, because quite simply, he will not be allowed on the plane and will probably lose the ticket, meaning he will then have to buy a new one. He will be prosecuted for overstay and given a number of days in prison and then go to IDC where he will stay until he can come up with a new ticket, plus the 3,000 Baht they charge to transport you to the airport. Cheaper and easier to find the 2,500 for the overstay first. 15

Does anyone know if an embassy would front him this type of money?
Popular Post Seth1a2a
There is another thread with a similar theme here If you do front the money at least verify on the internet that there really is a flight and that he really is scheduled to be on it. 4
Popular Post darrendsd
A freind of mine was on a very long overstay - he kew the fine was going to be 20k but he only had 10k - he went with that hoping for the best The I/O told him to come back when he had the full amount - obviously he lost his flight 2 1 1
Popular Post ubonjoe
Sone inflammatory posts and replies to them have been removed. He needs to find the 2500 baht to pay the overstay fine if it is a 5 day overstay. He will not be allowed to get past immigration if he does not have it. 6

I think now it is much more likely he would be arrested, and deported when he came up with the money for the court imposed fine and flight to home country. He would also be blacklisted from Thailand for some period of time for being arrested while on overstay. Edited July 10, 2019 by BritTim

Popular Post DrJack54
The OP has replied nothing. Can't even see point of thread as (if true) he has only 1 option and that's been pointed out many times above. Just to add I have seen a scam first hand twice. Not a story from friend of friend. Both times in soi 4. The pitch was exactly this guys (op friend) situation. The amount also similar. Not too much to make it too difficult to assist. Anyway this Canadian guy gave the con man few k. The con man was still in bkk weeks later. 8 2

Lipoman
If this story is a scam, don't give the person money. If this story is true, don't give this person money. It's their fault for failing to have some money on their person - especially if there was a chance of an overstay. The person gets what he or she deserves from the Thai Authorities.
