How is he going to even get to the airport

Or to his home from his own airport  ?

The same person(s) he would call for help over there are there right now. Too embarrassed to admit

it to a friend or relative but gladly ask a stranger or new acquaintance ?

Does anyone know if an embassy would front him this type of money?

A freind of mine was on a very long overstay - he kew the fine was going to be 20k but he only had 10k - he went with that hoping for the best

The I/O told him to come back when he had the full amount - obviously he lost his flight

He was really lucky. I think now it is much more likely he would be arrested, and deported when he came up with the money for the court imposed fine and flight to home country. He would also be blacklisted from Thailand for some period of time for being arrested while on overstay.

If he doesn't come up with the money it'll be jail until he can, plus finally an expensive new flight out to his home country. For him to beg borrow or steal 2-2500 baht will be extremely small potatoes in comparison.

Surely he must have a family or friends bacck home who could transfer (WU or similar) the small amount of 2500baht to him.

He was eventually arrested but not at the Airport and got a 10 year ban

If this story is a scam, don't give the person money.

If this story is true, don't give this person money.

It's their fault for failing to have some money on their person - especially if there was a chance of an overstay.

The person gets what he or she deserves from the Thai Authorities.
