Are new members ignored?:

Many first timers post  questions that the answers can be easily found ust by very quick googling, some of them are just lazy, and when you do answer and put time to advise and explain, almost never get a thank you..

And a lot of the time you'll never hear from them again until they have another problem to be solved.

Are new people just ignored? Nice.

As said before you've received over 30 responses among your 3 listed posts.

You've only responded once to one post on this entire forum. The better question is  "Are new people just ignoring posts on this forum?" .

Also be aware that unless a post gets a lot of responses it will probably drop from view in the popular Topic column . This means only the regular visitors to the area it was posted  (who have an answer) will respond.

That's why Moderator "Crossy " moved your post

"  "  I'll move this to General where some answers may be available." "

Since posting this, I have received about the quality of engagement I would have expected.

I went and read your initial question. You may not think so but in fact it's quite a specialised one - based in Thailand and selling things on eBay. If there's more than a handful of members here who do that as a business I'd be very surprised

Some people consider it a sin to be a newbie and will not give you the time of day or will patronise or insult you. I have seen people who have lived here for over 30 years treated this way, purely because they only have a handful of posts. Some people remain immature their whole lives. Que sera ...

I wouldn't say that I've been ignored but it has been made clear to me that my posts don't carry the same weight/value as those of a senior member.

I think it has a lot to do with attitude more than anything else.

Absolute nonsense, every member on here is treated exactly the same.

I agree. The attitude of some senior members can be shocking, at times.

You do realise you are a senior member, you have quickly learned the ropes, have you had previous experience on any other forums? I have always found that if you are helpful to other members they generally reciprocate, obviously as in most walks of life you will get the odd one out.

Have to disagree, Colin. There are a few here that cross lines with their posts, and some members hit the ignore button.

that's true Colin and you are the perfect example.

Even though you have your difficulties in life, if you are talking s h i t e, we all tell you so ( and you do talk a lot of it! ???? )

Equality is the name of the game on here and we are rude to one and all.

I treat every member the same, as i think admin/mods do, some members do cross the line sometimes, as i have done, been warned suspended a few times.

I think you are being seriously over sensitive. Who even looks to see if it is a senior member, newbie or whatever raising a topic? Certainly I dont.

But you must be new to social media generally if you expect kindness and empathy 100%. sadly it doesnt work like that.

I rarely start new threads and the number of replies is between 0 and 69 with the majority in the single digit range.

My threads are highly specific (like yours) or plain boring

And for your thread: even Thaivisa can't answer all questions about handling offices/services in Thailand.

Yes, I have been on other forums and agree that I have found the same problem on them too. I'm not just talking about posts replying to me. On this and other forums I have seen senior members belittling the opinion of "newbies" due to their lack of years on the Forum.

On another forum there was a long running thread on this subject, which led to more than 1 member being banned, such was their vitriol towards newbies.
