PARIS (Reuters) - Hundreds of undocumented migrants calling themselves "black vests" stormed the Pantheon monument in central Paris on Friday demanding the right to remain in France.

Police on the scene told Reuters an estimated 200 to 300 protesters, mostly from West Africa, managed to get into the Left Bank mausoleum where national heroes including Voltaire and Victor Hugo are buried.

"We will remain here until the last one of us has been given documents," a leaflet given out by an organiser read.

Young men were chanting "black vests" - a reference to the recent anti-government "yellow vest" protests - while marching around the monument, which is located in the heart of the capital's Latin Quarter, an area popular with tourists.

About 50 to 60 riot police barricaded access to the site of the protest, which was taking place peacefully, and them out of the building in groups.

Far-right leader Marine Le Pen called the occupation unacceptable. She tweeted: "In France, the only future for any illegal immigrant should be getting kicked out, because that's the law."

Not a good place to be, when the CRS get all hot and bothered, or so I understand...

France has fallen...

Germany does seem to be over run, but I rather think that The French Republic will probably stand up to the invasion of migrants rather more robustly.

They're starting to see the wonders of the Schengen Agreement and freedom of movement in Europe. Most of these people probably entered Europe somewhere other than France, like Italy or Spain. Lots of "lookie-lookie" men.

Is it EU immigration policy, or that of the member states. The people that French, Dutch & German leaders decide to allow into their countries will one day have French, Dutch & German passports. There are lots of Somalis living in Britain on Dutch passports.

Was Frau Merkel's open-door policy that of Germany or the EU?

What does it have to do with Schengen or Freedom of Movement?

What “EU immigration policy” are you referring to?

Angela's open windows and doors policy, come one-come all no questions asked, perhaps?

That's what I'm saying, not sure that there is one?

What I'm saying is that when EU nation states have "liberal" immigration policies, they can impact upon EU nation states that do not. For example, countries like Poland & Hungary do not want to take any of "Merkel's children" as immigrants.

Being an EU/Schengen member means accepting things that we do not want, as well as things that we do.

...it will not and probably never will be allowed to adversely affect them in their nice white, middle class neighbourhoods, that's why they don't care/promote this stuff.

NIMBY'ism.

I wonder if this is all connected? There are some reports of major rioting and looting by ahemm foreign appearing males in Paris and throughout France. Some cockamamie excuse about a football match! People did die during this riot and looting spree.

The scammer brigade has arrived. Lock up your daughter's and your cash. Each on of them has 20 or more family members  back in Sth Affrica to support. So in reality the country will be supporting 6000 Africans. Then it snowballs as family reunion visas come into play. All I can say now is good luck France I hope you can survive.

'Illegal Migrants' would not be able to gain EU country citizenship. The Somalis you refer to would have been granted genuine refugee status that eventually led to citizenship.

That should make a few hundred deportations easier. Any other demands before you go?

When they or their parents fought for the country, they were patriots (the vast majority comming from Francophone Africa). When they came to work in the most terrible jobs, they were "guest workers." Now they are not needed, they are migrants. Well, wait until the next time the "mother" country needs them and see what happens.

Calling people who illegally enter a country "undocumented Immigrants" is as ludicrous as calling someone breaking into your home an "undocumented guest"

Many of them throw away their passports & ID before arrival, makes it harder for them to be processed & deported, that's why they're undocumented. They have the 'uman rights Brigade (Cherie Blair etc) telling them to do this.
