Yes, I had to do it and CM immigration did not think it is a laughing matter, so their stance changed.

Came back on June 19, went to Immigration on June 20, it is now upstairs on a separate floor. They just updated my TM30 slip which was already in my passport. Came back visa-exempt (last time ED visa many months ago but kept renting condo). They said it is correct and was necessary to report.

 

Definitely changed, last time (maybe around half a year ago) they accepted a week or so to update the stamp on the receipt of notification.

In Chiang Mai you only need to update TM30 after returning from abroad.

And now preferably within 24 hours as the office is open 7 days a week barring certain holidays.
