Kenyan teachers working in the north east among thousands arrested by immigration in July

Many, maybe most, of these foreigners with a 'teaching visa' are, IMHO, plain trash abusing of the Thai immigration regulations to be allowed to live in Thailand on, renewable, yearly base; actually, as much as the so-called 'learning visa' cockroaches.

This wouldn't though be possible when the rotten Thai 'system' would not have allowed, or rather organised, the whole scam, and is closing both eyes on such a 'back-door-entry' system!

Why would it else be that so many Thais 'participating', I'd rather say active accomplices, of this are members of 'influential families', and more precisely very-very close to the BiBs(*), especially the immigration police, often wife or family of, are running the 'agencies' and 'schools' (not forgetting long-time malafide visa- and travel-agencies ran by criminal farangs)(*not to forget school managements)...?

In my travelling around to/from and around Thailand I have encountered so, too, many of that litter. Mind you, not all really, bad' persons, but ALL clearly aware they were f...ing the system, and many proud of it...

This is no hearsay, but personal experience. Thailand is a beautiful country, with a majority of very nice individuals, ...as long as money can't be shaken out of one's pocket, alas, alas, rotten to the core, corrupt behond retrieval! I have been a victim of many abusive tricks, have lost a lot of money (even 'unexecuted rulings' in my favour) ...but, a very special Thai wife I'm happily married with (here and 'at home') for over 15 years, and her beautiful family, as straight as an 'i', still making the toxic brew consumable for me.

Maybe you should read it. He was from Uganda. Or are you saying they're all the same?

Maybe he's not 'saying' it, just thinking it.

And anyone with brains and common sense watching the general situation in the African continent would, IMHO, have good reasons to think, for his own (mind you, otherwise you're villified as a 'racist', ...as basically true your thoughts might be), that, indeed, Africa is a total disaster.

But pointing at the origins of it, with immense graft and corruption, based on tribal/regional factors, clans and families, sadly expose the failures of the colonial education system.

Yes, there are bloodthirsty, even cannibalist, powerful individuals among the elites!

...I knew one, top family, top education (a multi-specialised MD all paid by my country), a great individual to meet and chat with (we were neighbours for years).

Became a sadistic mass-murderer when he got back, eating human flesh and all, ...and a top-politician now. Couldn't believe it at first, but the evidence was sooo damning. Still gives me the chills...

We are NOT same!

The Thai Police are a disgusting and sad joke ! The Thai people deserve better ! Is it any wonder the Police are very very unpopular with the public !

African nations, cultures, tribes and countries not all the same. Furthermore hardly anyone understands the history of the continent. More than 2/3 were colonized by Europeans and in some instances conquered by other regional tribes.

It took American more than 200 years after it fought England/Great Britain for it's independence, (The Revolutionary War) then a 5 year internal bloody war, (The Civil War) 1860-1865 then another 80 years later (WWI and WWII) before it began to stabilize. People complain about how bad Africa is but fail to look at the reality that it has been less that 100 years that the colonizers were forced out leaving most countries with no support or a viable way to build capacity, yet the countries are 'expected to be on par with the rest of the world'. Now China and Russia are coming with more colonizer  lies to continue to pillage the continent, yet not one of them wants to help them build capacity. They too want the natural resources.

Frantz Fanon addresses this issue brilliantly in his book Wretched of the Earth ( The Wretched of the Earth (French: Les Damnés de la Terre) is a 1961 book by Frantz Fanon, in which the author provides a psychiatric and psychologic analysis of the dehumanizing effects of colonization upon the individual and the nation, and discusses the broader social, cultural, and political implications inherent to establishing a social movement for the decolonization of a person and of a people.)

which was written against to backdrop of Algeria's war for independence from France, less than 75 years ago.

They Kenyan teacher ere wrong for overstay however to throw the picture of a dictator up as a symbol of people from one of the most progressive countries in Africa is appalling.

Idi Amin was a brutal dictator from Uganda who at one point considered himself president for life. Jomo Kenyatta was a brilliant anti-colonial activist and Prime Minster then, first President of Kenya. So to see a photo of Ami displayed on a story about Kenyan teachers is really ignorance of culture and Africa.

Finally, (Kenya is a multilingual country. The Bantu Swahili language and English, the latter being inherited from colonial rule (see British Kenya), are widely spoken as lingua franca. They serve as the two official working languages. Including second-language speakers, there are more speakers of Swahili than English in Kenya.)

I have met Kenyans who have better command for English than some Americans, Canadians, British, South Africans and Australians.

Yeah, keep your old phone.  Good advice.

No, I don't think so, they're also scum and trash IMO, but where is YOUR problem? On a bike, with little or no money, stuck deep into Issan's stincky flesh trade bottom?

Excuse me, what are you trying to say? I’m happily married for 17 years, got a good job, a car, a bike and a few friends I can rely on.

What’s wrong with people like you calling Isaan people stinky and all involved in “flesh trade?”

My Thai family is neither stinky nor are they or my friends and none of them involved in flesh trade.

Your statement is more than insane and you should be ashamed of yourself.

She's not alone, and it's getting worse. I have a friend from Myanmar who has a masters degree yet cannot find a job.

No one ever seems to mention Idi's time in the British Army.

Rose to the rank of Lt and on return promoted himself to Gen'.

I don't think a line on the map across the central belt of Africa makes any of them any different. Maybe only their passport does.

https://www.facebook.com/lawrence.muiruri.96   Apparently had worked in Sukhothai previously and claimed to have left Thailand to return to Kenya in January 2018 - It would seem he may have been engaged by an Agency using false or misleading credentials to promote their client as a qualified Teacher , with the required Permits , Licences and Visa .

However Immigration Bureau of District 4 have found otherwise . No doubt the School will be seeking a more suitable and legal replacement ( at least let's hope so ! ) .

It would be a great start to check on various agencies that create false degrees and other documents for their "teachers" to get them legal and a work permit.

The TCT doesn't seem to check on fake degrees, anyway it's the school that has to do such checks, but most of them have no idea how.

Without these foul apples ( agencies who create fake degrees) these people wouldn't be teaching here.

When you've worked here for 15 years and even spent some good money on a second degree to be able to continue teaching in LOS, it's totally unfair when these people on fake degrees take others the job away.

I've never heard of agencies being accused of producing fake degrees, perhaps the right time has come.

I know of some people who were told that teaching without a degree would be okay, until they started working and had to present a degree at the embassy/consulate in Laos.

One phone call and the HRM then produced a degree that fit into the guys country of origin. People get fined for much less, while these gangsters can continue their criminal activities.

And in my eyes, it's highly criminel when you give a flying one about laws and only think about your wallet.

The school did no background checks on teachers working with young children? Now that IS criminal.

WRONG. English teachers from foreign countries have to show their qualifications. These were genuine English teachers. It is THE SCHOOL who should, but doesnt, arrange a working permit. THAILAND HAS A LACK OF ENGLISH TEACHERS its a shame and a disgrace to kick them out should have arrested the school principal also. Of course not, bc he is THAI. he can abuse foreign workers at will. VERY UNFAIR.

Not, if they're still with the agency.

Having a daughter at school and knowing something of foreign teachers in my neck of the woods, I would suggest that your honesty and dedication makes YOU the foul apple.

The agencies and school Directors don't care. They want money. This is why at my daughter's school, even teachers from the Philippines are out. Now there are teachers from Panama, Belarus and God knows from where else. And they won't be paying for that frightfully expensive course to continue teaching after 6 years: They won't be in Thailand in 6 years.

Parents who have their fruits of loins in EP programs are grumbling. But they will continue to cough up the money to keep face. Don't expect change and don't expect your pedagogical expertise will elevate you above the pack unless you are teaching at the highest international schools dotted around the country...
