Im guessing the kids are half thai just hope he got British birth certificates as they would need them to apply for a passport

Not sure if there is now a time/age limit on registering them as a descendant of a British Citizen (if as reported he is Irish) but if as reported he has been in Thailand for 11 years they are most probably going to be aged under 10.

And again if he is Irish then what is the Irish law on this?

The government thinks their immigration policy is all upside, but it's not.

This guy's Thai wife and kids who could well be left behind, the Thai wife of that Japanese guy who got deported likely left behind, the kids whose education is disrupted because their foreign teacher got arrested, the farmers struggling to find farm labor because immigrant labor has been deported. Make no mistake, Thailand's social fabric and economy is taking a hit from immigration policy too.

It is not just the overstay, how has he financed himself? was he illegally working? paid his taxes?
Certainly must been a drain on society if he can not find £1,000 without resorting to "Go Fund Me"

Nether mind he can claim benefits when he gets back to Somerset and even more if he brings his kids back with him.

Stop spreading the Thai right wing propaganda that foreigners are becoming a problem for Thai “society”!
It is a tiny percentage and even the worst of Farangs living here could never be as much a “drain on society “ here than all the corrupt government employees one encounters here every day who are robbing their country of our hard earned tax money every single day of the year!
And again they are still small fish when compared to the corrupt scoundrels running this country and those who are supposed to uphold and enforce the law.

Why do we never read about them in the news here ? Why don’t we ever see any pictures with police posting with those real crooks?

But instead we are getting stories of some poor chaps who have never done any harm to anybody and the “crimes” they commit are blown totally out of proportion - and then the crowd on here has nothing better to do than joining the xenophobic right wing garbage that is robbing this country since one can think - in shouting “burn the witch” !

What is wrong with you people?

please explain to me how how someone who appears to have little or no income can be beneficial to Thai society? yet you just trying to justify by running down the Thai's by claiming their system is corrupt, two wrongs do not make it right...

and what if it were the other way round it was a Thai who had overstayed in the UK or Ireland?

You don't think that his wife and family would have got rid of him if he was not a benefit?

Nether thought how the authorities knew where to pick him up?

Sure, but after all the other years of not being beneficial?I know Thais can be a bit slow but that theory just doesn't seem very plausible.

The 'Irish' reference may have simply come from someone misunderstanding what is noted on his UK passport.

The UK passport notes 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. Have seen a few cases in the past where this has been picked up as the person being from Northern Ireland or, possibly in this case, being considered as Irish. A copy of his passport will probably surface at some point - as usually happens.

Comparing Thais overstaying in UK is like talking about apples and unicorns.

Let's get back to the real world...

The UK kicks out overstayers all the time, so why should Thailand not do the same.

Soon be found then, there are a number who have applied for asylum and a number who are appealing their deportation who would be getting benefits but those who are off the radar won't get anything.

"treated very well by the Thai authorities"  yet they put a pig's head on him?  The Irish will love that!

Naew Na probably obscured his face, not the authorities, but, even so, why should it be considered to be any reflection on 'the Irish' any more than an eleven year overstay?

Whoever started the funding page should go to jail himself for grave offenses against spelling and grammar, as well as logic and general lack of thruthiness.

Geez...

That lack of "thruthiness" [sic] is such a terrible trait to have.

First off, I'm sorry about the man losing his parents, but 4192 days? That's 11.5 years.

There is no excuse for shirking your responsibility to stay here legally. The rest of us go through the trouble. He should too.

A go fund me page? For what? He needs to be deported.
