After three failed marriages, the last one is still trying to screw me over houses and money i had a mental look at myself,i realised that a negative and pessemistic approach had been greatly detrimental to my life,so with the help of some mild meds which calm me and a new girl i have changed,no sense in worrying, try to enjoy every day,i think i am much more laid back,in fact the only thing that would bother me now is if some one peed on my rug,it really ties the room together man.

Its good that you had the honesty to take a good look at yourself, many fail at this point.

We should all have a check-up from the neck-up now and then.

For something that is a potential life changer, I am surprised that so many people can't even be bothered to research.

The life of actor Jim Carrey would be a good start

Yes, to keep a great positive attitude, you must chose your friends carefully; sadly, even to the point of dropping some.

Interesting point. At first I thought you were referring to the supermarket lol

Once you stop laughing then you will perhaps see that Ehrenreich is referring to western guruism as a kind of Walmart (or Woolworths if you are Australian) -pick it up off the shelf, find something that suits-especially if it's on "special"-and discard it when it's worn out.

Then go back and buy another one.

I do have situations that arise, but when they do, I smile and relax, because I know it will work itself out. And it always does. The secret is how I respond to a negative situation. I make it positive

Your brother has stage 4 cancer and dies in 6 months,  how do you spin that to a positive?

Smile and relax and know it will work itself out? True all living things will die eventually - but hardly a "positive" in friends and family members lives whatever they do or do not believe in

A drunk driver runs off the road and injures or kills your child , you smile and relax and think this will work itself out?  Maybe get yourself a good lawyer, find the right doctor, go to the hospital, talk to the police

oh i forgot - only good things come into your life because you follow the "laws of attraction"

So at what time do you attract your own death in this religion/belief?

Or do you not die?  your soul becomes one with the universe as your molecules live on beyond the abyss?

Actually sounds good, think I just convinced myself to start learning these laws of attractiveness -55

You don't, but at the same time you shouldn't dwell on it.

No one is suggesting you can control every aspect of the natural world with a silly grin on your face.  Earthquakes and the like are going to happen no matter what you do.  As they say, sh.it happens, but what you can control is how you react to things which occur in your life.  You can become a lifelong victim, constantly picking at a scab causing it fester and grow, or you can learn and move on.  You see it on here all the time.  A guy has a bad relationship experience and allows it to poison the rest of his life.  A positive attitude can help you move on and perhaps make better choices, while a negative attitude will leave you wallowing in your misery for the rest of your life.  I know what I would do.

I have been meditating since 1974 daily for an hour or less. I find this gives a lot of balance and perspective to my life. Do I still get angry about things....Yes. But the anger is usually only around for a few minutes.....mainly because I see anger as wasted energy.

When I had my business in California I fortunately or unfortunately worked for a millionaire from Iran who refused to pay me when I billed him the agreed amount. At that time I went ballistic, as did he with us both swearing and screaming at each other in a rage. The sum result was after that horrible experience I never wanted that kind of experience in my life again, and I made an inner decision that I only wanted good/nice people in my life. And for the next thirty years that is what I had every day. Occasionally I would get a client on the phone and an inner voice said, No. So I would politely decline working with them. Those decades created working for and with wonderful people who many times became friends.

And I did get my money from the Iranian man.....and the reason I said fortunately or unfortunately about him was because he was the catalyst for changing my thinking and attitude, so I am grateful for that as it enriched my life in so many ways.

Yep, that's the way it goes sometimes some lessons have to be learned the hard way. But you did learn about yourself and others and made an adjustment. Those who don't might have worse next time.

At the very basis of our essence we are all the one consciousness, the absolute, with different minds that have formed an illusory 'me', life happens with or without the 'me' but the 'me' can't accept that, it wants to grasp and be in control. 'Me' is never in control because it is an illusion, both real and unreal. Cause and effect happens without 'me' and the effect becomes a new cause, it is the dance of life with illusory perceivers and perceived caught in the strudel. "I am that I am" and "you are the light of the world" in the Christian bible doesn't refer to the 'me', it is the absolute speaking of the absolute.

You've been listening to gurus and the like and not to yourself. In 'essence' we all come from the same source, In 'essence' everything (galaxies, stars, planets) comes from the same source, Quantum Theory will back that up.

The pseudo Biocentric literature that describe your 'absolute' is nothing but an excuse to deny the inconsistencies of MIND with a continuous unimpeded flow of a constant rate of movement that has divisions within it ('different minds'). The absolute cannot talk to the absolute because the absolute lacks nothing and therefore has nothing to say to itself.

In brief, you are up there on some cloud and boy, it is going to hurt when you do hit the ground.

There's a great example of turning a negative into a positive.

The video always smacked as a bit patronising to me.

A bunch of already rich/succesful people being signed on to promote the oldest idea in history an and claiming..

"Ah,... yeah, BTW thats exactly how i made it..my secret to success personified"

lol

Whether they were being paid for it or appearing for nothing doesnt matter as both are just pandering to the ego and craving attention.

The rules work more to a "knowing" than projecting anything. And they are rules that cant really be taught.

The world and reality doesnt work so easy as just wishing shit into existence.

The world isnt obliged to just pander to your ego, because you greedily envision something you want, every night before sleep.

And if its money and fame you want..

look for it in the world only.

not spiritually!!

And good looks means more than anything in that superficial world.

Drop Ego and your half way there.

..if you give to a beggar, do you look around to see whos watching?

..if you hold a door open for someone, do you always look back to see if the person acknoledges or thanks you?

Thats EGO..and its what blocks you from being true to yourself and attracting what you NEED..not WANT!!
