Public transport from U-Tapao, how is it now?

For next week I have booked a flight to U-Tapao arriving 10 AM by schedule.

I haven't arranged transport to Pattaya.

Does anyone have recent experience about minivan or other transport?

Minivans will take you home for 250 Baht pp. If you are flying Air Asia you can use their minivan. You can pre-book online with Air Asia if you fly with them. Otherwise there are counters handily placed in arrivals.

I usually prebook a taxi.

The taxi price at the airport went up to 1200b.

The minivans are the best deal but be prepared for loud phones and talking in the van. Also, they will take you directly to your apt. or hotel.  The problem for me was I live in North so the last time I took it was almost 2 hours to get home.  They get lost, drive around stop and go.  Just too long of a ride for my liking.

This is a good example of how travelers are being ripped off.

1200 THB when the daily wage for the driver is between 300 and 400 baht.

I can't believe the cost of the car, insurance and fuel comes to 800 baht ?

Download the grab taxi app onto your phone ....you'll get the price for a ride from Airport to your destination ...Plus if you are happy with the driver and price ..get they phone number of the driver  for the return journey ..they will give you a discount on the grab taxi rate ..(grab takes about 30% of the fare price)

I changed plans to avoid UTP just a couple of months ago due to reports of taxis etc being scared to go on airport grounds, as well as the "official" shared minibus reportedly insisting there were no shared buses and they had to be used as private buses.

I'm not sure how accurate the reports were, or how recent, but same goes for the positive posts above.

I have no idea how good or bad they are, or even if they really exist.

Ok, that must be very recent and is good to know.  My guess is though you need to prebook to get that price.

You can see that a Forerunner was previously 1200 which is the vehicle they put me in when.

Good info. for the future thanks.

The link I posted seems to indicate 800B for a taxi and 250B for a minivan.

Just for information came in today from CM.

Was told Facebook post is false.

As I reported before, 1200 b to the city.

Just to add, if you are going to central area or north, ask the driver to take the highway from the 331.

It is 10 b and brings you in on the main highway from BKK.

My driver today was pedal to the metal took 30 minutes to the north bus station from UTP.

Otherwise, they will take Sukhumvit which can be 50 minutes plus with traffic.

Their own website is false??

Then perhaps they should change it, instead of misleading people;
